Saulsberry Sarah Saulsberry, wife of John W. , and children Levonia, Willie, Mattie Pearl, and Robert E. "Jack" are on the 1900 Census in Weakley Civil District 6. John & children are in Pemiscot Co., MO in 1920, but I can't find the family in 1910 in Weakley or Pemiscot. I do have a Pemiscot Co. 1937 obit for son Robert E., in which it states his mother died in 1903 and he came to Pemiscot Co. in 1908. >From the info in the obit, I'm assuming Sarah died in Weakley in 1903. It hasn't been real active, but I've gotten a few things from the list. Tom, Okla. Hey everyone, Has there been any activity on the list in the last few days or has rootsweb cut me off again? Phyllis
This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Amanda9252 Surnames: HAMILTON/WOOD/HARRIS/HENDON /LOKEY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.weakley/2216/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Surnames: HAMILTON/WOOD/HARRIS/HENDON I am looking for any info regarding GEORGE WASHINGTON HAMILTON The 1910 census lists him as being in the Donelson district of Shelby County along with his mother Elizabeth (84)b About 1826. and his 3 children... GEORGE WASHINGTON HAMILTON b.About 1861 son NORRIS HAMILTON (listed as Novice on the census record) b. 1 September 1894 (birthday info from the WW1 draft registry) another son GEORGE W. HAMILTON JR. (My ancestor) b. May 1901 and a sister ANNA MAY HAMILTON called ANNIE b. About 1905. Family legend states that their mother who's surname was JOLLY (no one remembers her first name for certain and I can't find it anywhere)died young when her son George was between the ages of 4-6...it has also been said it was not terribly long after she had ANNA MAY. So the Unknown JOLLY would've died sometime between 1905-1907. Its is also alleged that GEORGE WASHINGTON HAMILTON Sr was dead by 1915. His son George Jr. was often called "MAN". NORRIS and GEORGE W. married sisters, NORRIS married MARY WOOD and GEORGE W. married RACHEL AMELIA WOOD she was often called "MEELIE". Norris and Mary are on the 1920 and 1930 Census in Arkansas and Alabama. It is also rumored that George W. married at 16 and had a son called Nolan before later marrying Amelia. The Hamiltons moved around alot, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and even Georgia at one point but George W. and Amelia ended up back in West Tennessee for the rest of their lives and both died in Weakley County. They had 12 children together and have MANY MANY descendants in the Weakley County area. RACHEL AND MARY were the daughters of JOHN PINKNEY WOOD AND HASETINE HARRIS aka HASSIE HARRIS. HASSIE was a descendant of Benjamin Norris Hendon through his daughter Nancy and Mark Strickland Harris. JOHN "PINK" WOOD is the son of RUFUS D. WOOD and RACHEL E. LOKEY I have ALOT more info on this family, especially the Hendon's/Harris' and Lokeys Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Just received her obituary from the State of Arkansas. Her father was W.M. Parham and Lou White Bettie was born September 3, 1855 Weakley Co TN and died March 8, 1917 i9n Craighead Co Arkansas. Figures he is the only one I have very little data on, his full name was William Muran Parham Reavis bca1828 to John Hanner Reavis and Elizabeth Parham. He married Louisa White b1833, December, 1850 in Weakley co. Tn I have two children for him: John W. Reavis seems to have married a Lucinda Hooper, 1873 in Saline Co Ark. Thus far, not found them after Lacy E. O. Reavis b 1856 (*could this be Bettie?) No further data. I last found Wm and Louisa on the 1880 census. Whites were also on the 1880 census, she listed as Elizabeth. Lots of research to do on this family. Have reviewed marriage data on this list, and do not find the marriages for: Somers, Arthur, who seems to have married sisters, Birdie Mae Parham and Nannie F. Parham (although found on census as Nancy R.) Believe Birdie married him first since she has chn by him frm 1910-1921, must have been a divorce, since find her married to Romie Buntin thereafter; with chn born 1925-1929, perhaps later. Nannie's obituary lists chn of Birdie, as her children, surviving. Bit confusing. Would like to find both marriage dates. Thanks Barb ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Martha, I would appreciate an obituary lookup for Lula/Lulie Parham Oliver. She died October 13, 1945 and is buried at West Union Church cemetery. Thank you, Jenwyl

Yes there is a story behind the "PUBLIC WELLS", and there has been discussions some time ago about this. I have been to the cemetery/church, but cannot remember the entire story about the place. I am sure someone will chime in and give you the history. Don Welch WELCH,STONE,HUTCHINS/HUTCHENS,MONROE,GALLAMORE/GALLIMORE,LONG

I noticed in one of Lee Cate's postings, a cemetery named PUBLIC WELLS. Does that have a story behind it? Sherry

I show a Lou Simmons (female) married W. D. Lovelace on Jun 26 1877 in Weakley County. Also, William Henderson Simmons married Elizabeth Simmons on Dec 24 1878 in Weakley. James Simmons married Lemindo Wingo on Nov 8 1866 in Weakley. I found no listing for Sammons or Salmon/Salmons. These are all listings from the County Court Clerk's records. Hope they help you connect. Peggy M. T. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
I am trying to find Louisa E. Sammons/Salmons/Simmons, a sister to my gggrandmother Moriah J. Sammons Reagan. Louisa was b. abt 1845 in TN. Her parents were both born in VA, but married in Ala. and their first child, James E. was born there about 1841/42. I found Leroy & Sarah "Salmons" and children (James E., Louisa E., Martha, and William) on the 1850 Dist. 20 Maury Co. TN census. On the 1860 Dist 6 Weakley Co census, I found L. and Sarah "Sammons" with children James, Louisa, Martha, William, Delitha/Delila?, John, Moriah, & Thomas. For 1870 Leroy & Sarah are in Civil Dist. 7 (Ancestry.com index shows as Dist. 6, but census image shows Dist. 7) The children are John F., Moriah, Thomas, and Sarah F., b. in 1862. (Martha has married F. Atkinson and Delitha/Delila has married R. W. Gunter) Unaccounted for are James, Louisa, & William. Part of the family is still in Dist. 7, Weakley, in 1880. Martha and mother Sarah are listed as widows. Not found in 1880 Weakley (nor afterwards) are James, Louisa, William, John F. and Thomas. Sarah F. is with her mother and sisters, but not found after 1880. I have been unable to find the above after 1880 in censuses, marriage records, or cemeteries in the info I have access to. I even searched Weakley Co in 1880 (because of it having parents bp) on Ancestry for any Louisa or Lou*, but no luck. Any help will be very appreciated!
