    3. Matt, There are about 30 issues of the Dresden Enterprise for 1907 still in existance, beginning with March 15. These are on microfilm. Some of those 30 issues consist of only a piece of one page, mostly missing the date. There are no issues available from 1895. All issues in existance up to 1907 have been abstracted and are on the Weakley Web site. 3. I'd also be curious to know where in IL Mary Williams lived and when. I've got a couple of Williams - born in the 1830's - that are a brick wall. Mahala Angelina Williams (married Robert C. McAbee in 1852) was born in Weakley TN. She and her husband ended up living in Massac County IL sometime after 1860, migrating there from Graves County KY. Are there any lists of the children of Newborn Williams or John Williams? I haven't been able to find Mahala Angelina (who goes by Anna, Angelina, M.A. and other variants) or her sister Martha in the 1850 census but I'd sure like to get this line back another generation. By Newborn being on the 1820 Stewart Co. census and the 1830 Henry County census it may be that he actually died there and his estate administrators, John McClain and John Williams of Weakley Co. were appointed administrators of his estate. 3. Dorothy, I totally agree............seems to me that NO ONE but me and you have ever heard of Newborn WILLIAMS.............I am going to include my notes on this man here ............As far as I know Mary lived out her life in Weakley Co.............. NOTE: Sorry the surnames are not in CAPS but the reason being I just copied and pasted to this email..............pj This is so far......... MAKING MY CASE FOR LYDIA ?? McCLAIN TO BE LYDIA WILLIAMS DAUGHTER OF NEWBERN AND MARY WILLIAMS Lura Laney Evans signed an affidavit September 3, 1954 in Union County, North Carolina which she stated "...I am seventy eight years of age, having been born January 30, 1876 and I was the daughter of Augustus Alexander Laney and Mary Elizabeth Pistole. Mary Elizabeth Pistole was the daughter of Charles Pistole and Margaret Williams Pistole.. Margaret Williams Pistole was the daughter of William Williams and Lydia Bivens Williams. William Williams was the son of the Rev. Joseph Williams, Jr. and Martha Parrott Williams. The Rev. Joseph Williams, Jr. was the son of Joseph Williams, Sr. and Mary Newborn." The name LYDIA is found in the McCLAIN family........As you can see the name Newborn, Newburn, Newbern is from Mary Newborn listed above... ....Not a common name at all. John and Lydia named their 3rd son Newbern. ......1st son was named Allen (I think John's father was really Charles Allen, but no proof of this) 2nd son was Joseph, John's grandfather and Lydia's grandfather........then 3rd son named Newbern (this indeed goes with the standard naming pattern). Mewborn had a sister, Rebecca Williams and her husband Hosea James who are also found on the 1830 Weakley Co., TN census but moved on to AR and died there around 1850. Mewborn was born in Sampson Co., NC and moved to Anson Co., NC after his father and siblings moved there around 1800. Reagan. The censuses show his birthplace to be VA, but have not been able to find anything on him there--yet. He married Lucinda Jane Arnold in Bedford Co., TN, and their first child William (my direct ancestor) was born there. They then moved to Weakley Co. abt. 1849 and the rest of the children were born in Weakley. Joseph was a blacksmith. He served in the Civil War on the Union Side, had some injuries, died in Weakley in 1872. I think I sent you some info on him for your Civil War project. He was affiliated with the Masons, IOOF, or something, and I think they had taken care of the arrangements for his burial--maybe that is the reason he is the one of his immediate family that I have death info on, with the exception of some of the descendants of Joseph's twin sons Francis Marion Reagan and George Washington Reagan. Will have to check my notes, but I think it is one of F.M.'s family that married into the Finney's. I do have some additional questions and info on the Rust family, but I'll have to put that in a separate email tomorrow---eyelids are not cooperating. :-) Thanks for all your help, Jewel ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

In the 1880 census where she is living in the household of Henry P. Oliver...he must be her brother-in-law. I found a record of a marriage between H. P. Oliver and L. E. Morris on September 16, 1877 in Weakley Co. On the 1860 census I saw yesterday, Stephen H. Morris had a daughter, Louisa, age 7. could well be, since both are listed on the church records, I referred to yesterday. Have also found a couple obituaries of descendants of Lula Parham and John Porter Oliver, giving considerable data on some of their descendants; and a Buntin Genealogy tree by a Geneva Ann Travis (Jeannie). 3. Her birth date looks like August 1893 to me on the 1900 census. Also, if it's the right Amanda Taylor, the SSDI has Aug. 6, 1893. I haven't found her in the Weakley Co. Cemeteries book yet. Clay Evans Taylor is buried in Sunset Cemetery. 1. [TNWEAKLE] Douglas
    2. I am searching for realtives of J.D.Douglas that was in Weakley County in the 1850 census. He was in Hickman, County Ky. in 1830-1840.There were several Douglas's or Douglass's there also.J.D. Douglas had son's James and Thomas and Simon and Winfield Scott My greatgrandfather. Also a baby named George. They were in Stoddard, Co. Mo. in 1860. But the baby George wasn't with them or any son except Winfield Scott. My Scott says he was born in Obion, Co. in 1847.But his death certificate says Weakley, Co. Tn.I would like to hear from anyone with Douglas realtives around in the area.I would like to get one to do the DNA Testing for our family. As many Douglas as there are surely some belongs to us.J.D.said he was born in North Carolina.By the census i would guess between 1800 and 1805.I would like to get this family back farther in time.I can't find where their buried it took help and 20 years to get this far.Thanks. Betty in Haywood, County. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    2. In a message dated 6/20/2007 11:54:37 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, jfpitt@comcast.net writes: I believe Hoyt was the son of Clay and Mandy Oliver Taylor. According to the SSDI, Hoyt O. Taylor, born July 1, 1922 and died January 11, 1999. Amanda Taylor, born August 6, 1893, died August 1974. Clay Taylor, born June 10, 1896, died February 1971. Yes, he was listed on the 1930 census with family. Likely her name was Amanda, but rec I have thus far indicate Mandy and Manda (census records 1900-1910) This is search as we go! The 1900 census gives birthdate of Mandy as August 1895, gives age as 6. On 1910 she is 16 yrs old. So no way to confirm.
