    3. Good Morning Janice, I would really appreciate it if you would look it up - Lucy's mother's date of death has been such a brick wall so I am hoping an obit might shed some light on the timing of death. Lucy was one of 9 children so I am sure there will be additional info there. There is a huge fire burning (2,000+ acres) within 7 miles of our house so the air is a mess this morning. Temps are supposed to be down from 100° to 89° - YAHOO!!! Thanks again. 3. Hi Joe, Yes, Homer is his nickname. His oldest son, Bennett, told me an amusing story about his name. He had always gone by the name of Homer since childhood, and when the postman went to deliver his Draft Notice from Uncle Sam he didn't know who to deliver it to until finally he ask a family member who verified that "General Green" was indeed "Homer". Homer's father was "General Grant Harrison". Say hello to Cuz Dean Stroud for me. Shirley At 09:09 PM 7/15/2007, you wrote: >Shirley, > >I have Ruby Viola Caudle married to Homer Harrison. 1. Re: [TNWEAKLE] Anna Killebrew
    2. Carolyn Storie
    3. Bob, I'd love to know who Anna's parents were too. According to the 1910 Portland, Multnomah County, OR census, she was born in October 1867 in North Carolina and was 49 and widowed at the time. She was living with her son Burtis, his wife and small child, and her three daughters. I found an obituary of sorts on the Tngenweb site for Madison County under Death Notices that states the following: "Mrs. ANNA TAYLOR, died at age 43, Portland, Oregon; no death date, but dated July 14 from Jackson. Surviving were a son, Burtis Taylor, 3 daughters, Misses Ruby, Lena and Lennie." I've seen much mentioned on the Weakley County site about the Killebrews, but nothing has ever been written about this Anna. She been a real mystery for me. I wrote earlier that she had twin sons Curtis and Burtis, but according to the 1900 Mayfield, Graves County, KY census, these sons were not twins. Curtis was 16 and Burtis was 13 in 1900. That census also states that all of her children were born in Tennessee with the youngest, Ruby, being born September 1894. I believe they were all born in Weakley County. They moved from Tennessee to Kentucky sometime after 1894 and before 1900. It seems that her husband Clinton died in Kentucky, and she moved west to Oregon with her son Burtis and her daughters. I have no idea what motivated them to move all the way to Oregon from Kentucky. I don't know what happened to her son Curtis. I have not been able to find anything on him after the 1900 census. I do believe the pieces fit! MY John Sammons is YOUR John Sammons! WooHoo! :) I've been looking into this today and all the census records I can find and here's what I know - The Jolly family moved around quite a bit (TN, KY, IL, MO, and TN again) but were definitely in Weakley county in 1880 with the census showing the birth of their youngest two in TN in the same years where Susan C. Jolly married John F. Sammons. John F. and Susan C. are on the Weakley Co. 1880 census and the 1900 Hunt Co. TX with their children. All the children have the same names as the notes my aunt and mother gave me for our Sammons family line. So here goes - John F. Sammons (1854-?) married Susan C. Jolly (1857-?) in Weakley Co. TN in 1874. They had the following children: -Sarah Sammons Walker (1876-?) -George Bryant Sammons (1877-1953) -Olivia Sammons LeFavre (1879-?) -Daisy Sammons Moser (1882-?) -Willie Sammons Jacobs (1886-?) -Mary L. Sammons (1888-1961) -Vera Birdie Sammons (1893-1967) Mary apparently had a child out of wedlock and never married. Birdie never married either. Both Mary and Birdie along with their widowed mother Susan are listed on the 1910 Hunt Co. TX census living with George. I know that George, Mary, and Birdie are all buried in Wolfe City, Hunt Co., TX. Daisy is my great-grandmother. She married Isham B. Moser about 1908 and had four children (Maude, Mildred, Woodrow, and Weldon) before her death somewhere around 1919. We don't know how she died or where she is buried. My grandfather was only about 7 when she passed and when Isham remarried no one ever spoke about her again. We think she died from a disease. Woodrow Wilson Moser 1912-1984)is my grandfather he married Wilma V. Wood (1914-1998) and had four children all in Greenville, Hunt Co, TX - two have passed and two are still living. Whew! This is great! We've been looking for the Sammons family line for ages! We're all jumping up and down we're so excited! What info can you pass along about John's siblings? I'd like to be able to fill in as much on my charts as possible. So far this is the only family (besides the Jollys) that I'm researching in NW Tennessee. Strangely enough, the Moser clan also came from TN in Monroe county in the SE quadrant. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He married Mary "Martha" Dick about 1825 in Simpson Co., Ky. She was the daughter of Koonrod Dick and Charlotte Harrel Dick. Mary was born Feb. 7, 1807 in Wilkes Co., N.C., and died Oct. 21, 1877 in Franklin, Ky. THe McFarlands also appear in the Logan Co. census for some years. Their children were: In the 1850 Logan Co. census, their children are listed: James, 22. William G., 18. Amos ,16 (that would be my ancestor--My dad's name was Marion Amos) Luke, 14, Elizabeth, 12, Charlotte Malvena, 11, Nelson, 8 Henry, 6 Mary F. or A., 4 Peter, 2 All their last names were McFarland. Plus, listed as living with them on the census was Frances Vaughn, 16. Don't know the relation. Matthew and Mary and some other family members are buried at Dick Cemetery in Simpson Co. It's a very nice little family cemetery--I've been there. DOn't know if any of this helps anyone out there or not. 2. Joe, Thank you for sending the address to your World Tree Connect. Yes, Richard did have two wives. The second one, Martha HIGGS is the one I am descended from and am trying to find information on. I see in you information you have Richard T. dying 1848 in NC, which could be true. He could have gone back for a visit or moved back there. His family and last three children were born in Tennessee. I have the same information for his ancestors, I would just like to find who the daughter is that was born between 1834 and 1840 and then who Matha HIGGS people were. I noticed a John HIGGS living in her household in the 1870 census, listed as a domestic servant. I'll keep digging. Thank you again for keeping open records and sharing. I have not found them in the 1850 census. I believe that Richard died between 1848 and 1860. And that he was in Tennessee when he died as his son Robert (b. 1843) and the younger children were all born in Tennessee. I would like to know what happened to Richard and to identify one of his older daughters. In 1840 it states that there are 3 females under age 5, and in the 1900 census his wife says she had 6 children and 6 are still living. I have identified 5 children. This unidentified girl may be named Sarah or Sally as family stories talk about an Aunt Sally...but that could be from another line. Any help will greatly appreciated.
