    3. Hi folks, I am way behind in reading my emails but will try to catch up. I found one of my ancestors brothers living with a Mollie Parker 60 and her granddaughter looks like Willie A 15 on the 1880 census. They are in Ralston Station district 178. James GARNER and his wife Jeannie and James's brother Samuel are living with the two ladies. Anyone have any idea as to who this PARKER is and what the connection might be? The GARNER's are all descendants of Jackson G GARNER. Thanks Brenda R _________________________________________________________________ Don't get caught with egg on your face. 3. Brenda, This might possibly be the James M. Garner and wife Virginia F. Hamm I have in my files. They married in 1879. I have James as the son of Jackson George Garner and wife Celia Brewer. The ages are 3 years off and also the middle initial, but that is not unusual for come census records. Jackson also had a son named George. I have Jackson with 20 children, 14 with Celia and 6 with 2nd wife Eliza Ann Moltin. 3. PJ, I need you to give me a Genealogy Report (or gedcom) format of your McCLAIN lines as I have a ton of holes in the info. I only have bits and pieces. For instance, that Charlotte McCLAIN who descends from Charles S. McCLAIN that married Nancy ATKINSON ... I have nothing on them and can't fit them into the data I do have. Maybe if I have all that you know on your TN and AR lines, I'll be able to piece together something more on my line and yours ....which of course is also mine, lol. 1. Re: [TNWEAKLE] DNA TESTS
    2. Audrey Stanaland
    3. Lee, PJ is right. To track a male surname line, only male dna on that line will work. I have entered my mother in an mtdna project and her female dna is capable of only tracking the female dna through her maternal line ...my mother WASHBURN, her mother McLAIN, McLain's mother COOPER, Cooper's mother PULLEN, and Pullen's unknown mother... and on back through time. I still do not understand the mtdna results, so am relying on the PULLEN site administrator at FamilyTreeDNA to explain any 'matches' with me. I am hoping to learn eventually something that might help me determine the mother of PULLEN (hoping my paper trail ...or somebody else's paper trail) to give me clues as to PULLENs mother and who she married. If your friend is old enough to have a mother that might appear on 1900 to 1930 census, or in birth and marriage or divorce records, etc., she might be able to find her mother (as revealed in the adoption records) and thus stumble on some clues. I suppose the adoptive agency does nothing to help reunite children and parents ...though I have heard that a few do. Also perhaps helpful, there are some special genealogy Message Board forums where people are searching for birth parents. It would take some aggressive, frequent postings of known information and some good luck that the birth mother or father (or a possible sibling of your friend) might be also searching.....or maybe just doing genealogy on his / her own lines. Perhaps the mother also had other children also searching for information. Maybe, maybe not. My WILLIAMS dad's siblings ended up in an Iowa orphanage (or were fostered out) while young and while trying to find his lost sister Dorothy b about 1927 IA (who I know was married to a RODE / RHODE, etc. in the early 40s) , I sometimes search some of the postings hoping that the sister's children might have posted. Not often I think, but once in awhile, somebody gets lucky. Check Rootsweb, Ancestry and Genealogy.com boards. If a child / children were removed from the home or the mother by a County or State due to inability to support a child, etc., there would possibly by 'case' records that have survived somewhere ...but those records are difficult if not impossible to attain. I only know this because my parents fostered children in AR, IN and then TX over more than 40 years. The protection of records is meant to protect privacy, but it sure creates a frustrating situation for children, parents, etc. searching years later and I have my own personal feelings about over-protection, but it's hard to fight the system..... I wish your friend much luck. The ages didn't match so I went to the original census images: CS McClain published 10001 -200101 Original 110001-200101 + 1 male slave 15-24 Now the ages of the male children and the husband are consistent with the better data in the 1850 census. I then looked for Joseph Atkinson in 1830 and found him on page 332. The order of the 1830 census is still a mystery. 1830 Census Joseph Atkinson 001020001-000100001 Ma1es 1 10-15; 2 20-30; 1 60-70 females 1 15-20; 1 60-70 This pretty consistent. Aunt Nancy was one hundred and five years old at the time of her death, which occurred very suddenly, though some claim she was older than that. Aunt Nancy had lived at the place where she died for sixty years, and though very feeble, was a willing talker and nothing pleased her better than a chat with friends, and we have been told that she, in her declining years, was particularly fond of the company of young people. Her life had been consecrated to God, and her good deeds are an everlasting monument to her. The following children survive her: W. A. McLEAN, Martin; Dave McLEAN, Mrs. John THACKER and Mrs. Wm. An aged mother in Israel has gone. She seemed perfectly will on Saturday, at supper time and died about midnight - before the doctor could arrive. She leaves a husband, three daughters and four sons, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends. She is one of whom it can truly be said to know her was to love her. She has gone to her eternal home which was promised for such as she before the foundation of the world. We extend sympath to the bereaved ones and trust that it may be the happy lot of the aged companion and children to meet Aunt Liza in that happy home where there will be no more sickness, pain or death. Uncle Billie, as all called him, had been on declining health many months, and the news of his death was no surprise, none the less a shock to his legion of friends. Mr. McLEAN had been a citizen of Martin for many years and was of a quiet, unassuming nature, but warm-hearted and true to the very core . Several years ago his life-long companion passed away, and since then Uncle Billie has not seemed himself. He is survived by two sons, Attorney Chas. McLean and Mr. Will McLEAN.
