    3. For those who do not wish to call the station regarding the New Hope damages.....I believe you can access the newsroom at the station at this address......... http://www.wcmt.com/news.html After accessing this site you can click on the address below "Local News" and this will give you an email access to the station. Maybe a flood of these along with phone calls will stir the pot, and I am hoping the station will take the ball and run with it. Don Welch WELCH,STONE,HUTCHINS,MONROE,DENT,GALLAMORE,LONG

    1. [TNWEAKLE] Sunday Rockin' & More
    2. pj
    3. Good Morning to all............ We had 3 drops of rain in "the north of Weakley" last night........don't get me wrong we will take 2 drops if that is all we are allowed.......we are so dry, crops are burning up in the field, not to mention yards, flowers, gardens, you name it............I never remember it being this dry in this area of the country........ I do hope everyone will get on the ban wagon, make a phone call, write letters.........do whatever you can to bring attention to our New Hope Church and Cemetery vandals ...these young people need more than a slap on the hand, they need to be held responsible for their act of vandalism....this is not the first time this has happened .........we need to make a point of this.........Please do help anyway you can........... I had to go to the dentist at Paris on Friday, so I stopped at the Library there..........that is always a treat...........you do know that they have the microfilm of death certificates for Tennessee?????? I spent my entire time looking at dc........brought home several with me...........they charge $1.00 per dc and that is to help pay for the cost of copy of the microfilm........I gladly pay it and make a donation on top of that........ I think they will even lookup them up, copy them and mail to you for that price but add a little extra for postage.......hey you can't beat that with a stick.........I am so proud they have them..........I hope we get them at Martin one of these days............ Speaking of death certificates........I was talking to Janice Crider the other day, she was telling me about the OBITS books that Weakley County Gen Society has published........that sure would be a good investment also if anyone was interested.......She told me that there were order forms on the Weakley Web Site........ http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Etnweakle/genealogical_society.htm and there is a printable order form at this site that also tells about all the books available for sale through the society........ She was also telling me about the new microfilm reader they have at the Weldon Library in Martin.........sounds wonderful.........I am going to have to make a trip to the Weldon Library in Martin very soon..........I would like to be active in the Weakley Co Gen Society one of these days......I do love Weakley County......... Ok, it's too hot to do anything outside...........so what do you suggest we do this afternoon.............how about some lookups............got any suggestions............I will do some today...........pj

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Martha Smith To: tnweakle@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, August 18, 2007 2:11 PM Subject: Obituary - David W. McCLAIN The Dresden Enterprise April 20, 1917 Unity and Latham Column Last Thursday afternoon about four o'clock, the spirit of Uncle Dave (D. W.) McCLAIN took flight to the God that gave it. He had been sick some two weeks with pneumonia. He was seventy nine years of age, and while he was not one to make any show of his religion, he left the sweet assurance with his bereaved children that he was going to rest, telling them that he did not fear death. His life has been a continual blessing to his neighbors and friends, and though his mortal frame is hidden by the sod, his many acts of kindness will continue to live fresh in memory. His hand was ever extended to help the needy. He leaves four sons and one daughter, a number of grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. His remains were laid to rest Friday at Old Concord beside his loved companion, who preceded him. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Bun ROSS.

    1. [TNWEAKLE] Mailbox Vandalism
    2. Joe Stout
    3. There were many mailboxes that were damaged also, Each one would be a separate offense; Rural area mailboxes are vulnerable to vandalism because they are usually isolated, located on public thoroughfares, and frequently not visible to the box owners from their homes. City residential mailboxes are vandalized to a lesser degree. Mailboxes are considered federal property, and federal law (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1705), makes it a crime to vandalize them (or to injure, deface or destroy any mail deposited in them). Violators can be fined up to $250,000, or imprisoned for up to three years, for each act of vandalism. Postal Inspectors recommend these actions to protect your mailbox and any mail that may be inside it: * Immediately report theft, tampering or destruction of mail or mailboxes to your postmaster. You’ll be asked to complete PS Form 1510, Mail Loss and Rifling Report, or PS Form 2016, Mail Theft and Vandalism Complaint. The forms help the Postal Inspection Service determine whether your problem is isolated, or one frequently experienced in your neighborhood. * Obtain Label 33 from the Postal Inspection Service and affix it to your mailbox. The sticker warns that willful damage to mailboxes and theft of mail are crimes. * Keep your mailbox in good repair, and make sure it’s properly installed. This may help prevent theft of the mailbox itself. If you have information on mailbox vandalism, call the Postal Inspection Service to report it. Your cooperation helps apprehend violators. You may provide your information or complaints to your local postmaster No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. In addition to calling the radio station many of us could call the Weakley Co. Press and the Dresden Enterprise on Monday informing them of the pending hearing on Wednesday. They do not always have a reporter in the courtroom during these hearings. Most of the time they get their Arrest and Court Reports from the records in the clerk’s office. The Dresden Enterprise P. 3. Regarding the Vandalism of the church, it is imperative that something be done before next Wednesday. Since Deputy Plunk seems to be the one that is involved in lowering this to a misdemeanor the Weakley Co. Sheriff, Mike Wilson, should be informed of what has transpired. He may already be aware but this will put him on notice that it is well known what is going on. The District Attorney, Tommy Thomas and his assistant DA's also need to be made aware of the circumstances. If this is allowed to be settled on Wednesday as a misdemeanor that will probably have to be the end of it since further charges would be double jeopardy. The Cemetery Committee is now the owner of the church building and should voice their concerns and submit the $6000 estimates again. If the above people are not contacted this will probably take its natural course as a misdemeanor. There is not time to get newspaper publicity but a call could be made to the Martin Radio Station on the morning show where they take calls. All of the concerns of everyone interested will be for naught unless this is brought to light before Wednesday. Regardless there needs to be as many people as possible at the hearing. 3. I found a phone number for the MAIN OFFICE of Thunderbolt Broadcasting which owns WCMT - AM 1410. There's a show on that station that starts at 7 a.m. called Good Times in the Morning with Chris and Paul. I think this would be the show to call. The phone number is 731-587-9526. I'm sure you could get the correct phone number to call if you call the above number. They may even be able to connect you.
