Ken, Howell Allen married Anna Mittie GREEN, she died in September of 1850 of September fever. (The descendants of Anna believe that she was Cherokee). Howell left Wayne County Tn went to Belton, Anderson Co SC. married Lucinda WHITT. He had two daughters which he left in Wayne co it is not clear who the daughters stayed with. In the census of Wayne County(1850) it lists Adeline and Elizabeth, which is partly correct........Adeline was actually Armettie Apaline ALLEN b. abt 1834 Alabama & Frances Elizabeth ALLEN b. abt 1843 Alabama. Apaline married John Staggs, when he died she married Ruben Brown. Frances married Louis Tiller. I am in touch with a direct descendant of Armettie Apaline ALLEN and it is believed that HOWELL was Hal's middle name and his first name was William.......that HOWELL was his mother's maiden name. Also, another correction is that Howell was born in S.C., instead of N.C., According to information on the Internet I have Ancestry World Tree Project in the Bently,Davis, Bennett and Nodine branches: Howell and Lucinda had three children: Martha, b 1857, Nancy, b. 1859 and William b 1862. This needs to be checked out. Information I have comes from a direct descendant of Amittie Apaline ALLEN STAGGS. Hi Joyce, None of my Allen's match with a Howel Alen or Anna Powell. I have quite a few Howell's and a few Allens. Nothing yet. Ken, I was trying to tie my ALLEN family into the POWELLS .......it looks as if there was a Howel Alen who married an Anna POWELL nothing to confirm this...........there was an ANNA who died in Sept of 1850 in Wayne co deaths,(september fever) that was the year that Howell left and married Lucinda Whitt in South Carolina...........he had two daughters in Wayne County.....then removed to S.C. married and had three children, and according to the Census he was dead by 1870........no information on him that can be proven except the US CENSUS. There was info on the internet that stated his wife was a POWELL, but no sources or proof of that. The person who gave the info has since stated that a good friend told him that she was Anna Powell....no proof............. I do not have my notebook out at this time to give the names of the daughters he left in Wayne County Tn. Will get to that later.
