Doing a little research on Paulk's Mill on Horse Creek in Hardin Co., I ran into Mrs. P. J. or Jane Freeman who, along with her son Joe Lackey, was once an owner of this mill. I found out at the courthouse that P. J. Lackey married B. R. Freeman on the 14th of January 1891. The cemetery census shows that B. R.'s first (?) wife, Elizabeth had died on the 7th of March in 1890. Benjamin Rush Freeman, followed soon as he died on October 18 1891. I thought perhaps Jane Lackey Freeman might be a neighbor, b. ca 1853-54 in Tennessee. However, in 1880, I find a Pheby J. Lackey, a widow, and son Eward J. Lackey, age 1, living in the household of the father and grandfather, David I. Dickerson, 55 AL, all in the 8th C. D. of Wayne Co. I would be interested to learn more about these families.
