The Hardin County Historical Society will meet Thursday October 30, 2008 at 7:00 pm in the Welch Room at the Hardin County Library. The speaker will be Dr. Timothy Smith former historian for the Parks Service at Shiloh National Military Park who is currently teaching History at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Dr. Smith will speak about the civilian population in and around the park area during the Battle of Shiloh. He will have available for purchase several books that he has authored and or published. Those books include: "Shiloh and the Western Campaign of 1862", "Golden Age of Battlefield Preservation," and "Battle of Shiloh and the Organizations Engaged". Everyone is invited to the meeting.
