    1. [TNWAYNE] Caseys 1820-1840, Wayne Co., TN
    2. David L. Casey
    3. Greetings, I am researching my ancestor James Hill Casey who appears on the Wayne Co., TN census in 1840. He is stated to have come to Wayne Co in 1817 with his family, and in the 1820 census there are only two Caseys, both named Abner Casey. Only one has a male child under 10, so I believe it must be the latter. Therefore by this criterion, the father of James Hill Casey (which is the information I'm trying to deduce) would be Abner Casey. My James Hill Casey (1813-1901) was married in Wayne Co. TN to Jane Turnbow, dau. Of Hugh Turnbow (Turnbough) in 1832, and thus, I have to assume the family was still in the county in 1830, but there are only 3 Caseys listed, Wilson, Willis and Ira on the census, and no Abner. Of course, Abner could have passed away or moved 1820-1830 (or just not be enumerated) and his son, now 17, could be either out of the county or with another of these families (?relatives) in 1830. By 1840 he is listed as a head of a household (James H. Casey) with a family of his own. Any info on this family, or the Turnbough/Turnbows (which I also research) would be appreciated.
