Dr. Robert L. Douglas was born 3 Apr 1872 and died 11 Dec 1920, Wayne Co., TN, buried Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery. He married on 19 Apr 1920 to Miss Fanny Cromwell, daughter of John Sidney Cromwell and his second wife, Genira Dickerson. Fanny was born 14 Jan 1899. I don't remember when she died but it was in the 1980's. After Dr. Douglas' death, Fanny remarried to Ed Copous. Dr. Douglas and Fanny did not have any children. He, however, was a widower in the 1920 census and was listed as born in Mississippi. Dr. R. L. Douglas had two children by previous marriage: Lafayette Douglas, b. 29 Oct 1902, d. 15 Jan 1926, and Oliver Douglas, born 1904, MS. I don't know of any living descendants, but Oliver apparently did marry as his daughter Orline Douglas b. 23 Mar 1936, d. 9 Jun 1937 is buried in the Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery. Dr. Douglas did not practice medicine in Wayne County very long. He is not listed in the 1910 census, and if I remember what I was told, he didn't arrive in the county until about 1916. To my knowledge, none of Dr. Douglas' records survive. All I know about him is that he was called Dr. Douglas, I don't know if this was his first or last name. He assisted most of the births, sickness, and deaths around Lutts, Waynesboro etc. If anyone can find anything about him I would greatly appreciate it. My father said that his records could possibly open a lot of information for people in those areas. > > Rosemary Reed > > > ==== TNWAYNE Mailing List ==== > Visit the Wayne County, Tennessee Genealogy and History Page at > http://www.netease.net/wayne > > >
