I have been looking for a while for records of my greatgrandfather who served in the Union Army. He was born in Alabama, but moved to Mississippi and when grown, lived in Hardin and Wayne Counties in Tennessee. His name was John Galloway Johnson. There was a picture of him in a Union uniform. It was destroyed in a fire long ago. I am told that John was a bugler and a scout and was very young when he enlisted. I've also been told that there is a listing where his wife drew his pension money, but John lived to be a very old man long after the war was over. His first wife has been listed as Nancy Harris, his second wife (my greatgrandmother) was Nancy (Nan) Shubert Johnson. Any information would be appreciated, I have been searching for a very long time. I have considered the possibility that he could have changed his name, he was Cherokee Indian and was known as Lumberfoot Johnson. Thank you very much. Rosemary Johnson Reed.
