The Hardin County Historical Society will meet in the Welch Room at the Hardin County Library on Thursday the 31st day of July at 7:00 PM. Following a brief business meeting, there will be a round-table discussion of Colonel James Hardin, who led the first organized group to settle in the Hardin County area in 1816. As James is generally considered to be the founder of Hardin County, perhaps the Historical Society can find some way to remember him by locating his home site, which was also the First Courthouse of the County, and locating and marking his final resting place. All are invited to attend. Bring any genealogical or historical information that would help discover the history associated with Col. James Hardin.
