I have noticed some conversation about DNA testing on this website. Myself and several other lines have been doing DNA testing on a Martin line from Wayne Co, TN. We have pursued this to prove and disprove several theories, from my understanding on DNA testing a 12 mark test is not conclusive proof that you are related in any generation. I have talked with the people at FTM DNA testing and from what they told me, in a 25 marker test if you vary in at least 2 markers it is highly unlikely you are kin. Varying one marker is possible. We have tested 5 people I think, on a 25 marker and they have matched 25 out of 25. You really need a 25 marker test to prove anything conclusive. By the way if your Martin line goes back to Wayne Co, TN, we would love to see you do a 25 marker DNA test! Be glad to show anyone how to do this. Vicki
