Thanks to everyone for their responses. I must apologize for quoting other researchers without any evidence of my own, and presenting it as fact. I will be more careful in the future. This is what I can actually prove. My father and grandfather were both born in Claiborne County Mississippi. Our family have recollections and pictures to support this. My great grandfather Humphrey P.K. Daniel came to Mississippi from Tennessee and married 22 Apr 1851. I have a copy of his marriage bond from the Port Gibson Mississippi courthouse. Evelyn Van Meter has Robert C. Daniel family Bible records that indicate Humphrey Posey Kimsey Daniel was born in Bedford County Tennessee 18 Jan 1825, son of Robert C. & Nancy Kimsey Daniel. The Bible records also say Robert C. Daniel was born 18 Jul 1791 in North Carolina. I have not yet seen the actual Bible records from Evelyn. I hope to make a trip to Tennessee soon, and visit with her, look at the records, and at the graves of my family on Daniel Hollow. As for the research of Felix W. Motlow, Evelyn's parents helped provide Mr. Motlow with his information on the Robert C. Daniel family. Several others are very skeptical of Motlow's research for several reasons, and I share that skepticism. I'm not trying to claim kin to a family that is not mine, just because they might be famous. All I really can prove at this point is that I'm a direct male descendant of Robert C. Daniel, and that I share a common male ancestor with Plummer Daniel. Thanks to everyone for all their help.
