    3. Hi Barbara, This Mary Powell doesn't match with mine. They must be of the same family though. She was born in 1802 in TN to my 3rd ggrandfather Henry Howell Sr. I have absolutely no idea who she is or of her family. Any help would be welcome. 2. Barbara Wallace
    3. I found the following in the book "The Texas Turnbo's" by Charles Alton TURNBO, 19771 NOTE: I typed the surnames in caps for easy reading. Hugh TURNBOUGH, Sr. Born: 1793, South Carolina or Kentucky Married: # 1 Sally BEARDEN, October 23, 1809. Married: # 2 Mary (Polly) POWELL, August 6, 1814 Died: 1886, Wayne County, Tennessee "Because of highly incomplete information, we can only speculate that William Eli or his brother George TURNBOUGH was the father of Hugh TURNBOUGH, Sr. from whom the Texas Turnbo's are descended. Very little is know about either of these two early TURNBOUGH family members, so at best this is speculation." '....at age 16 Hugh married one Sally BEARDEN. There's no evidence that they had any children... On August 6, 1814, Hugh remarried; his second wife was Mary ("Polly") POWELL. This marriage is officially recorded in Maury County, Tennessee.' The family is found in Wayne, Co., TN by 1820. The author states "Mary (POWELL) must have died between 1850 & 1860, for in the 1860 census record, he is shown living with Elizabeth who could either be his daughter or a third wife; her age was listed as 34. Several children with the surname of ROSE lived with Hugh and Elizabeth in 1860." Elizabeth had four children; Joseph, Charlotte, Sarah, and Susan ROSE. Mr. TURNBO also states Hugh died in 1866 and was buried in Northwestern Wayne County. He said there are several older TURNBOUGH graves built up like vaults in the area but the names have been worn off the stones. He was not completely sure but list the children born to Hugh as; William, Ishom, Hugh jr., Elizabeth, Andrew Jackson, S. H. "Ted", Mary, John Lewis, Ambrose and Samuel TURNBOUGH. I have not been following the shared data on this line so you may already know all of the above and if so I am sorry to have taken your time. 3. Jerry: My great-great-grandfather, Robert Guthrie, Jr. was in Wayne Co., Tn. after the 1840 census was taken. He died before the 1850 was taken. I am just wondering if you have seen any Guthrie's, actually this one in particular, in any of the cemetery listings for Wayne County? I feel sure he died in that county. (He was from Giles Co.) Also, I have a Murphy in my line. Thanks. Betty G. McCollum ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry W.
