It sounds like a security setting problem. Open Outlook Express. Click "Tools" on the toolbar. Select "Options". Then select the "Security" tab. Check and see if "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." If it is checked, uncheck it and click "Apply" and then click "OK". That should correct the problem. I had the same problem on the laptop I bought recently. Jerry W. I just found out the problem with the Digest attachments that will not open. My computer removed them as "unsafe to open". Maybe you should check your computer for viruses. Thanks to everyone for their response to my query. I found the Petition document of great interest. Jack Hurst
Jackie, Look on the Wayne County GenWeb site: http://www.netease.net/wayne/1819.htm This petition was probably made before Hardin County was established. I would estimate that perhaps as many ad 50 % of those listed were actually Hardin Countians. Several of my Hardin County ancestors are included, examples being: Henry Reynolds William Lacefield Jesse Lacefield Robert Lacefileld. Before Wayne was officially established, a petition was made to establish Hardin County which borrowed some of the land originally proposed for Wayne. Both counties were finally established in 1819. Does anyone know of or have a copy or even a source for a copy of that petition? If so, it may be of great interest to those of us who had ancestors in Wayne in that time-frame. My HUST/HURST ancestors were there in the 1820 census, but I have not been able to track their arrival in the area. Perhaps the document would help. In-any-case, the document would be of significant historical interest to me and, I suspect, to others. > > Jackie Wayne HURST > > > ==== TNWAYNE Mailing List ==== > Visit the Wayne County, Tennessee Genealogy and History Page at > http://www.netease.net/wayne > >

Following is all the information that I can find on the Lacefield family in Hardin County, up and until the 1880 census. I am a direct descendent of Robert Lacefield through his daughter Ruth who married William Taylor Alexander. The Lacefields settled on Smith Fork Creek ca 1817, signed the petition for the establishment of Wayne County, and perhaps were on the Hardin County petition as well. It appears that all the Lacefields in this area descended from this family, probably William Lacefield who apparently came to this area from KY. William T. and Ruth Lacefield Alexander had several daughters and one son, Robert. These children are also shown below as they appear in the censuses. Martha J. Alexander first married a Gutherie and had two children. She later married James Snodgrass. Does anyone have any idea which Gutherie she married. Benjamin and William Gutherie were of a similar age and lived in the neighborhood in 1860. As she named her first son William Gutherie, born in 1862, it stands to reason that William was probably her husband. Need help here. Abigail Everline Alexander first married William Bishop and had two children, John and Tennessee. William was in the 21st "Wilson's" Cavalry. Apparently he was killed in the CW. I am also trying to find information on John Lacefield, born 1864, the son of John H. Lacefield. Gilford Dudley, b. abt 1799 appears in Williamson County, TN census in 1840. Oral history indicates that he was a Doctor and practiced medicine in Nashville. By 1848 he is in Wayne County, TN where son, Marshall Dudley, was born. Again, oral history indicates that he was father of seven children, one of which was Anne B. Dudley. We are interested in learning anything re this family, particularly the identies of the other children. Thank you. Wayne Smith, Kansas City, MO
