It sounds like you got the John Minton as Phillips father and the Ebenezer,Richard, Isaac, Betty as siblings from Jon Thunderchilds web site. The only thing we know about John Minton is he had a land survey in 1882 and got fined for selling Whiskey in 1778 and again in 1782. We have no idea what his age was or if he was married or if he had any children. In the 1880 census Ebenezers son Vardaman said Ed was born in NJ and in the 1880 census Phillips son Richard said Phillip was born in VA so we figure Ebenezer and Phillip are no kin but don,t know for sure. I suspect by the naming pattern that Ebenezer and Isaac are some kin to each other since Ebenezers line used the name Isaac but Phillips line has no Isaacs. But have no idea if John, Richard or Betty were any kin to Phillip or not. There was also a James Minton there that married Mary Moore Mar. 6, 1786. Don,t know if he might be any relation to Phillip either. But Ebenezer, Isaac, and James married 1786 and Richard 1804 and Betty 1812 so unless it was their second marriage they were not Phillips parent. I have seen the rumor about the 1765 birth date also but no one has a copy of a source for it. I have the David Mink deed. I got my copy from Smyth Co. I have got no answer to my query so far. maybe no one has will or deed index. I have sent for the microfilm from TN State Archives it just takes awhile to get it. It would be nice if that Richard in Wash. Co.TN turned out to be Phillips father though.
