Hi Jean, I don't know of any Bowmans who ended up in Izard County, AR, but there are a LOT of Bowmans from Washington County, so it's entirely possible that one or more of them did. There's even a Bowmantown near Johnson City. I looked up Miles, Preston, and Ervin/Irving BOWMAN in the History of Washington County, but there were none listed. Unfortunately there are too many Bowman's listed to give you the references for all of them. There was one reference to Arkansas in the Bowman family write-ups, but the reference is probably too late to be connected to your Bowman's. A MARTIN, descendant of a NECESSARY, descendant of a BOWMAN moved with his wife to Hot Springs Arkansas in 1934. I also looked up Mayfield and found several references to Mayfield: Two Mayfields show up here; "In 1835 a group of Washinton County citizens met in Jonesborough and 600 of them signed a petition asking the state to furnish financial aid to make "internal improvements," their definitionof a railroad through Washington County.
