I wish I could answer your question, but I can only guess. I think that the odds are that it is the same fellow. In the book that I have, THE KING'S MOUNTAIN MEN by Katherine Keogh White. It lists men who were at King's Mt. They include. Col.Arthur Campbell. Also John, Nataniel, Robert and Samuel Davis who were in the battle in Col. Campbell's regiment. The battle was in Oct 1780. These people are considred to be Virginians and exciting things were happening in Greene Co, TN. So a bunch of Virginian came to Greene Co, TN. I have a John Adams and a John Davis "stuck" in Greene Co, TN and I can't get them back from there. Is there any chance that your Philip is related to my John Davis?
