Does anyone have more information on Adam, Celia Jane, and William Andes? My gggrandfather, Elbert Anderson-Andrews-Anders-Andes, was first found in the 1850 Washington Co. census, living with the John Tankersley family. Family "history" says that Elbert was "farmed out" to the Tankersleys, possibly from the Poor Farm. He later moved to Laurel Co., KY; in the original census his surname is Anderson; when he enlisted, it was Andrews; the family Bible says Anders, and the family name is now Andes and has been for at least 100 years. One researcher believes he has weak, but important evidence that Elbert was the son of Adam. Any more info on the Andes family would be great!
