There is an exciting DNA study of the different variant spellings of the Pitcock/Pidcock/Pidcoe surname. Although the name is rare, there has been five distinct separate families identified so far in North America. John Pitcock and his wife Mary Fisher lived in Washington County in the early 1800s before moving on to Monroe County, Kentucky with their married children. There were some Pitcock descendants that remained in the area. Any males interested, please consider joining. The DNA study has allowed the southern states Pitcocks to link DNA with Pidcocks tracing their ancestry back to the 1560s in Darley Dale, Derbyshire, England.
