Thanks Jean, I looked at the information you sent but can't make a connection, although there probably is one. I have mainly concentrated on trying to learn where my Harrells, Herrells etc. who lived just over the mountain from Carter, Washington and Unicoi Counies, TN. came from.. This family was there in what became Mitchell co., N.C., in 1789 I'm sure, but I can't find where they came from.. I have learned that all the Harrells, Herrells, Harrolds etc. who moved west very early (1750-1850) were from either southeastern VA.-N.C. or Northern Va..Frederick-Augusta counties.. I don't know which area My Hugh Herrell (Harrold) came from but suspect he came from Northern Va.. The Harrells tended to move with the frontiers to all parts of the country and it seems a lot of them were people who were Wagon Makers, Stonemasons and probably Miners, who did not own much property.. Today many of them are teachers, seven children from one family in Mitchell county, N.C. graduated from Appalachian State at Boone, N.C... and I have found many others across the country.. In earlier times several were preachers beginning in southeastern, Va. and going into Arkansas and preaching and teaching in Indian Schools.. I have found this to be a very interesting family even if I haven't been able to make a lot of connections, but I keep searching, and hoping! Thanks Again, G. Lee Hearl (formerly Herrell, Herrall, Heral, Herald etc.)
