    1. Re: [TNWASHIN] Bedford VA: Wood family
    2. Jemima Gee Morse
    3. The following Woods are listed in the Diary of Archibald Thompson http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/archibald/index.html Roseanny Thompson, d/o Archibald Thompson and Mary Elswick, m. Isham Wood in Cumberland Co., Ky., in 1800. Did the Wood family emigration from Bedford/Montgomery County, Va., with the Thompsons when they came in 1769? Or were the Woods already in Kentucky? Archibald and his brothers-in-laws, the Skaggs Longhunters, were in the various Virginia militias, and in the French and Indian War (see Library of Virginia site, Colonial Wars). Was the John Wood cited here with them in these campaigns? Thanks, Jemima Gee Morse Thanks, Jemima Wood, Archibald, birth in 1802, 30 son of Isom and Roseanny, 30 Avas. as wife of John Wood, 28 record of children, 28 Hannah, 1794 birth in 1794, 28 dau. of Avas and John, 28 Isam, birth in 1798, 28 son of Avas and John, 28 Isom, marriage in 1800 to Roseanny Thompson, 29 record of children, 30 John, husband of Avas, 28 record of children, 28 in trade note, loose papers (2) Pegy, 1796 birth in 1796, 28 dau. of Avas and John, 28 Rachel, 1801 birth in 1801, 29, 30 dau. of Isom and Roseanny, 29, 30 ----- Original Message ----- From: "jprince" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 02, 2000 12:49 PM Subject: [TNWASHIN] Bedford VA: Wood family > Fellow researchers: > > A Wood theory: > > A John Wood fought in Battle of Point Pleasant, enlisted in Buford's volunteer company from Bedford Va. 1774.....Dunmore's war.... (Bedford records reflect a John Wood admin the estate and accounts were settled between him and Thomas Wood, Jr.) I also think it is highly possible that this John Wood might have been the husband of Agniss, (Agnis, Agnes, Agness) that died Spring 1780 in Jonesboro, Washington Co., TN tomahawked by Indians. If so, I think Agnes remarried James Bell (Augusta or Bedford or Botetourt) and he died about 1782. She died about 1785. We need to find out what happened to his property (180 acres Sycamore Creek , Bedford VA as well as other lands in VA and TN) before or after Agness died and the marriages and whereabouts of the children of Agness > Wood(s) Bell. They were under age when John wrote his will 1773 in Bedford and he died 7 yrs later in 1780 at Jonesboro. Maybe wife and children were still in Bedford. I'm estimating John born > c. 1740 married c. 1760 chilren born in 1760's and 70's. From the will--Children: son John born c. 1760 (at wife's death.. all land...plantation and land where I now live, him and his heirs), dau Winifred born c.1761, dau Miley born c. 1763, dau Elizabeth born c. 1765, dau Rachel born c. 1767, daug Agness born c. 1769, son Richard born c. 1770, son Elijah born c. 1771, son Henry born c. 1772, ...appointed Executors, Robert Donald and William Armstrong to sell his land to pay debts and see that "all four above named sons at proper age be bound to suitable trades."
