When I opened it it was one of those letters telling me that I had been chosen to go into this business deal with a foreign country and make lots of money. I really did not finish reading all the garbage I just deleted it after I put a filter block on it. I have to think the sender got my address from the Smith web site because of the way it was addressed being a subject line of Smith and from a William Smith. Not much we can do about that but I wanted you to be aware as I know there are still a lot of gullible people around and please don't fall for any of their shames! I am not sure about Washington Co. marriages before then. I believe they are also at the Rootsweb Co. site, but at the moment, I don't have that URL handy. http://members.tripod.com/~LadyValois/washington.htm Good Luck, Janet Hunter
Could someone please tell me where the marriage records (or bonds) may be found for the 1775-1785 period for Washington Co? Thank you, Eldon

Hello list! I remember someone posting a batch number for Washington County marriages on here and I was wondering if anyone knew Sullivan County's batch number. Please let me know. Thanks, April Maupin
This family lived in Greene, Washington & Roane Counties in Tennessee. This bunch of Browns seems to have originated in North Carolina, but I cannot verify that. There are other descendants of this family who still live in the Greene-Washington Co., TN area. 1.. John Brown, b. abt. 1835, d. TN; md. Nancy "Annie" Ford, b. abt. 1835, d. TN 2.. William B. BROWN, b. 28 Oct. 1858 North Carolina, d. 21 Jan. 1935 Roane Co., TN; md. 18 Feb. 1883 in Greene Co., TN to Richard Ella "Ellen" MURDOCH (In one place I found her name listed as Louella), b. 21 June 1864 North Carolina, d. 12 March 1937 Roane Co., TN 3.. Walter P. BROWN, b. 9 July 1903 Greenville, Greene Co., TN, d. 1 Nov. 1955 Home Gardens, Riverside Co., CA; md. 12 July 1927 at Riverside, Riverside Co., CA to Mary Marie STUMPF, b. 8 June 1907 at sea (Atlantic Ocean), d. 7 June 1975 San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., CA *These are my wife's grandparents. Does anyone know anything about John Brown & wife Annie or William Brown and wife Ellen Murdoch? I am triing to find information on my grandfather, John Robert Lowe. He was born Nov 2, 1902 in Johnson City, TN. His mother was Lou Sells. His wife was Martha (Lunsford) Lowe. When my father (James E. Lowe) was born in 1941 my grandfather was working for a Coal and Ice company in Johnson City. My father said he grew up on the High Point reservation. I have not been able to find anything on this side of my family. Any information would be greatly appreciated. John
