    3. List, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this. I know that the Carter's were in Carter County and I'm hoping that someone can answer a question for me on the below abstract. Does anyone know if the child John took his mother's name or did he go by Carter? "Tennessee Tidbits" 1778-1914, Vol II; by Rev Silas Emmett Lucas Jr. John CARTER - August term 1788, was ordered to give bond for the maintenance of a Base Born Male Child of the Body of Sarah MEDLOCK, named John. His securities were Thos Yourley & David Allison. (Washington Co, TN, Co Ct Min, 1-338). John Carter was the reputed father as shown when he was ordered to pay Ten pounds for the expenses and maintenance of the said child for 11 ½ months past, May term, 1789. (Ibid 380). Thanks Wanda

    1. Which newspapers/libraries for obituaries?
    2. I am trying to discover the best means to obtain obituaries for three men. One was living in Johnson City in 1966 when he passed away, the second was living in Telford in 1974 when he passed away, and the third was living in Jonesboro in 1997 when he passed away. Should I contact the local newspapers (which were they?) or the nearest local libraries to obtain the obituaries I need? Thanks very much. Dale Bricker

    1. Looking for a POC for Urbana Cemetery
    2. Last September while visiting Washington County, I located the graves of my great great grandparents, Susannah and Daniel Yeager in the Urbana Cemetery. I could not find it listed at the Washington County "roots website". The tombstones were made of limestone and they have deteriorated to the point that they are unreadable. I would like to place another tombstone there with their information. I would like to order a tombstone from a Washington County monument company and get permission to lay it when I return for the 2005 East Tennessee Germanna Reunion. Any information will be greatly appreciated. R/Y Corlee Morris 4174 Hamilton St. San Diego, CA 92104

    3. I'm researching these lines - I descend from Nancy Lilburns and Joseph's daughter Amanda who married John Ault in Knoxville Tenn. Their daughter Mary Ann Stringfield Ault married John Mills Ramsey; these are my ggg-grandparents. Nancy Lilburn is thought to be buried in an unmarked grave in Knox County TN in Macedonia Cemetery along with Amanda and John Ault. (The Aults donated the land for this cemetery). I believe Joseph Booth is buried in Cherokee Baptist Cemetery in Washington County TN. Suzanne M. Pratt swmpratt@bellsouth.net Steve, Yes this is the Joseph that purchased the property from your Laymon on Cherokee Creek. The John Booth that is buried on Chase Rd. I believe to be the son of Joseph Sr....... Joseph Sr.was my GGGG Grandfather. There was lots of Josephs and Johns, so it gets crazy. Joseph Sr. was a Quaker, he moved to TN. from PA. (Chester) thru VA. My line goes like this, Joseph's (sr.) son Joseph Jr. married Nancy LILBURN (da. of ANDREW). One of their sons, JOHN married ELIZABETH PARKS (da of Phillip). One of their sons Henderson Booth married Evaline Brown and moved to Knoxville, TN. He was my G-grandfather. Is anyone researching these names? I would appreciate any information on where the Booths, Parks and Lilburns are buried or where they lived. Thanks again! Jeri Lett
