    1. [TNWASHIN] Vintage Postcards
    2. Pat Sabin
    3. Hi, Everyone, Last week I came home from Tennessee with an album of vintage postcards, 1906-1910. Many are East Tennessee town and event postcards, and I have created a site just to feature those cards. I have *many* more to upload, so check back from time to time! http://www.usgennet.org/~ahtnwash/Vintage/Postcards.htm Pat Sabin

    3. Hi, Everyone, I'm just forwarding this to the list. Please respond directly to Bonnie if you have any information. Thanks! From: bonnie hill <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Hi list I just got a helping hand from some folks on other pages that advised I ought to try Washington County for my ancestor. I was told there are several Shannons and Olivers in East TN. So I thought I'd see if someone could help me on this page. I'm looking for Perniza Oliver, born in Tennessee in 1817, married Alexander Shannon and went to Washington County, AR where she died. I have never been able to find her parents. One clue I got was possibly Douglas Oliver's line, whose son, Charles Yarborough was born 1783 in Caswell County. There's no hint about Perniza in the family, although Charles' daughter, Catherine, who married John Barton Crozier, also went to Wash. County, AR. Perhaps someone knows if Perniza was the daughter of one of the Olivers in Washington County. Please!! I've been searching for her for over 10 years and really need some help. I've said before, I know she wasn't hatched. I also received advice to post this on Grainger and Jefferson counties, so I'm doing so. Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance. Regards Bonnie in Idaho

    3. Dear Oscar and Jan, It is very possible that the Elizabeth Hartman that you refer to below was the Elizabeth Hartman born in 1791 to Joseph Hartman (1753-1831) and Mary Henley (1747-1834). If that is the case, then my ggggrandfather, Marshal Hartman, born Nov. 9, 1788 was her brother. (I was not very sure from the way you worded your email as to whether you are saying that David Diehl was born in 1779 or his father Aberham Diehl was born at that date.) There is a headstone that was erected in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in 1950 by some descendents that provides the dates given above for Joseph and Mary and lists all of their children and their children's spouses. I can provide you with a copy of that info if you would like. The information on the headstone is assumed to be accurate, but who knows. The copy that I have of what is on that stone (sent to me by another researcher) says that the stone lists Elizabeth as marrying "a Depew". Other info sent to me by another researcher has her married to John Peter French on September 23, 1815. This info could be erroneous or it could be accurate and Elizabeth married several times. Or, of course, this could not be the same Elizabeth, although I have never heard of more than one Hartman family in Washington County in that timeframe. Unfortunately, that is about the sum total of my knowledge on Elizabeth and her parents. There are at least two of us working on trying to determine where Joseph and Mary originally came from. Later census info on some of their children indicates that they were born in Virginia. It is felt that Joseph and his family arrived in Washington Co. sometime in the 1790's. They may have been from Maryland originally, but as far as I can understand it, this information is purely family anecdote. I would very much appreciate the source of your information on David and Elizabeth Hartman Diehl. Thank you. 3. Barbara, I'm sending this to the list because other folks may need to know in the future. Generally, if you change e-mail addresses altogether, your old address will start bouncing (unless you unsubscribed that address prior to making the change). After four bounces, the address will automatically be unsubscribed. For your new address, you can just subscribe as you did before, by sending the request to: [email protected] (or TNWASHIN-D for digest mode) with only the word subscribe in the body of the message. As always, though, if you have any trouble, let me know and I can go into the system and do it manually. Just a reminder about how to unsubscribe from the list: send your request to [email protected] with only the word unsubscribe in the body of the message. If you use another word with the same meaning, or if you misspell "unsubscribe" the computer will not recognize the command. 3. Pat, Although I prefer having the option of sending to the individual, the list, or both, I respect your "right" as list owner to set it any way you like it and I can work around it...It gets bothersome because most lists are set to give those options and it's very easy to forget to change the addresses when replying to the messages.. You set it as you like it! I'm just glad to be able to get any information I may find on this list.. Thanks for Your Effort! G. Lee Hearl...

    3. Lee, You're right, because I have the list utility function set at "reply to list only." That function actually prevents you from replying directly to the sender without typing in the sender's e-mail address. A lot of people find that to be a real pain. I personally like the "respond to the list" function, because I like discussion on the list, but it is a lot of trouble to respond off the list. Pat G. Lee Hearl wrote: > > Pat, > I must have some kind of weird E-mail program... > The way this list is set at present, when I click "Reply to Author" I get > the List Address.. > When I Click "Reply to All" it gives me the List Address Twice in the "To" > box.. > There is no way I can get it to insert the address of the "Author" of a > message.. > With most other lists my mail program works correctly..
