Roseanny Thompson, b. 1778, m. Isham Wood in Cumberland Co. Ky., in 1800. Her uncles were the Skaggs Longhunters, Charles and Henry. There are marriages with Indians in these lines. The Thompsons are my mother's line, but families who were in the same region included my father's Gee-Bugg line; my ggg-grandfather's nephew married a Lankford, whose mother was Cherokee. Jean, Some of the Archibald Thompson line is found in Arkansas, and possibly in Izard Co., so thanks for getting the word out there. Archibald had a brother, Roden, b. 1748, who may have emigrated to Arkansas, but we've been unable to trace him. Index and a transcript by Lula Hankins Hunter of Archibald's diary is at http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/archibald/index.html Thanks, Jemima Gee Morse ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Mayfield Cuevas" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2000 9:46 AM Subject: RE: [TNWASHIN] Re: RAWDON WOOD, B. 1843, and SARAH THOMPSON, B. 1 819 > For anyone who might be interested, I have been forwarding on some of your > WOOD queries to my Arizard-L mailing list (Izard County, AR). Just wanted to let the listmembers know that the fellow I posted about who was researching Indian (Native American) ancestry of the Thompsons and Fergusons loaned me a book once. I think it was called "Cherokees by Blood" and another one with the word "Buffalo" in the title. They were very good. Lots of genealogy. It was about the Indian ancestry in SW Virginia. I'll find these notes and post better info later. These events were before I had internet. Judy

Geneaoly must be important since they went to a lot of trouble to record it in the Scriptures. Useless trivia or a deep thought. I read somewhere a few years back that about 1999 the population of the world would equal the total number of people who had ever lived from the beginning. This means that If reincarnation really happens.... then, we're all here at the same time.

Richard, that was a possible date looking at his war record, marriage date, and death date. It could very well have been 1840. Thanks so much. I have a letter from my cousin who unfortunately died in 1998, stating the children of John Beals and Nancy Wilson Haws. Do you have them. No: John Smith Haws is the son of John Haws and Nancy Campbell. Source is the will of Nancy Campbell's mother Susannah McWhorter Campbell. The will listed in Washington County, Will's is: Susannah Campbell Daughter Fidelia Campbell - $500 in 3 years after my decease. Daughter Sarah and John Carson her husband - $500 in 3 years after my decease, to their Mary Susan $50 when she is 15 years old. Daughter Mary and her husband Joseph Carson - $00, their Hugh Campbell Carson when he is 21. Daughter Margaret and her husbnad Edward H. carson - $400, their son Andrew Carson - $100, and their dau, Susannah - $50. To grandson, JOHN SMITH HAWS son of Nancy -$100. To my son James Campbell - land I inherited from my husband Hugh Campbell. To son Brookins - $300. To my children - my interest in the landed estate of my father James McWhorter at the decease of his wife Elizabeth, which I may lawfully inherit. Executor: Son James Campbell. Wit.: Francis Robertson, William R. Sehorn?. Probated ________Term, 1850 Signed: Susanna Campbell Now if you will go to the Washington County, Tn. web page and click on the old letters there is one there to James Seehorn from E.R. Carson. In that letter he states that John Haws remarried only five weeks after the death of his wife Nancy. If Nancy died in child birth or shortly there after, then John Smith Haws had to have been born August or September 1840. He could not have been born after October 1840.
