I'm forwarding this message to the list because I don't want to guess and give the wrong answer. If you have information about any/all the newspapers that would have been operating in Washington County in the 1920s, please post the information to the list. Thanks! Pat Sabin ********* Hi Pat, I was wondering if you could tell me what newspaper was in service around 1920 and if any have on line archives. My family is from Jonesborough and I was told my great grandfather was murdered in a section called Potlick. Vicky

Although Champ Ferguson was not a Monroe Countain, he was born in nearby Albany, KY., and is a son of the Cumberlands. Here's more about our regional history, with a URL from Randy Jobe: Douglas Patton Hale wrote: "Sergeant Alvin York was from Pall Mall, Fentress Co. the county seat is Jamestown (Jimtown) to the locals. . .Fentress Co. was a big Union strong hold during the Civil War and Overton Co. was strongly Rebel. Hello, I am new to the list and am searching for information re: CASH families in Washington Co. TN ca. 1790's-1840's. I am trying to connect my 2nd great grandfather James Monroe Cash b. 1826 TN possibly Washington Co. TN. We believe his father was a John. There is a John CASH who married Hannah DOSSER in 1799 Washington Co. TN but as of yet I haven't been able to connect him. There was also a James CASH and Margaret DOZIER who left I believe they were settled around Jonesboro(hope I spelled that right). James left a will proven in Jonesboro, Washington Co. TN in May, 1807. Does anyone have any info, census or otherwise, which might shed some light on who these early family members were? Thank you in advance and I look forward to learning more about early Washington Co. Sincerely, Christopher D. Cash

Greetings. I posted a PITCOCK/PIDCOCK query over a couple of hours ago on the above three mailing lists. I can see I have opened up a "can of worms" and the response to me has been incredible in such a short period. Upon further thought, it appears it REALLY should be opened since SO MANY others than just me are interested in my query. I am sorry I will be unable to answer all emails. I think we should move all responses over to [email protected] and not go thru TNWASHIN and KYMONROE newsgroups. To subscribe to the PITCOCK/PIDCOCK email newsgroup, send to [email protected] In the subject and body place ONLY the word - subscribe. Hopefully the moderators of the PITCOCK newsgroup will share with all of us new to the group their findings. Thanks for your responses and HAPPY ANCESTRY HUNTING! Gary Pitcock (formerly of Monroe Co. KY)
