Greetings and Happy Easter! I have only been working on these lines for a short while. I'm doing the searching/hunting for myself and my new found cousin, Marcy. Marcy and I have twin grandfather's in common. It's kind-of cool! The Slater line is from England and Connecticut....the other lines originated in Amherst County, Virginia and later settled in Jonesboro and Washington County, Tennessee. Briefly,... Samuel and Rhoda Beverly's daughter Sevanny (Luranny) Beverly married Reuben Tyree Luranny and Reuben Tyree had two daughters Lurany Dillard Tyree and Lucy Elizabeth Tyree who both married the same man, John William Slater. Their first born George William Slater married Ida M. Ullmann Their fifth child Mary Luranny Slater married Charles Ernest Ullmann (Marcy's grandparents) I'm the Ullmann connection too! Her grandfather Charles and mine, John were twin brothers! I would love to know more about the Samuel Beverly line (ancestors and descendants alike) and of course anything that someone might know about Sevanny(Luranny) Beverly Tyree. I'd also like to know more about Rhoda Terry and her line. I have her parents as William Terry and Dicey (Dicer) Curry. I've got William's parents as William Terry and Susan Turner... I also have Dicey's father as Harry Curry. Thanks for any help. Becky Newark, DE

I found the following book at Genealogy library.com at Family Tree Maker http://www.familytreemaker.com/ THE ROMANCE OF THE PALATINE MILLERS A TALE OF PALATINE IRISH-AMERICANS AND UNITED EMPIRE LOYALISTS SECOND EDITION OF "THE CAMDEN COLONY," REVISED AND ENLARGED BY REV. W. BOWMAN TUCKER, M.A., PH. D. Montreal, 1929 This is basically about some Canadian MILLERs but some of the descendants did end up in Bristol, TN and possibly elsewhere in TN. I didn't read the book. There is even mention of one or more men named Peter although I don't think they are "your" Peter. Also this from the book: GEN. IV. SEC. III, SUB-SEC. 9, LEADING TO GEN. V AND FOLLOWING SUB-SECS:-- Children of Peter Miller (brother of Adam), and Eliza Hamilton (2) Eliza Little (13) Zebulon Miller, died three months old. (14) George Miller, a teacher, who emigrated to America and died at 80 years. (15) Samuel Miller. (16) Arthur Miller (1820-1885), m. Eliza Carey of Bandon. Nine Children. She died in 1893, aged 74 years. (17) Margaret Miller lived with Arthur in Youghal and died at about 65 years. (18) Thomas Miller, ship-chandler of Queenstown. Twice married. Two daughters by first wife. Four daughters by second wife, a widow formerly Miss Harte of Bandon. (19) Charles Miller, bookseller. Married. Died in Paterson, N.J., U.S.A. (20) Henry Miller, bookseller. Born in Newmarket, Ireland, May 27, 1839, emigrated to New York at 16. Died in 1901. m. Catherine Ann Henn who died Feb. 2, 1928. Had a large family. (21) William Miller, whereabouts unknown. (22) Sarah Miller, died in Brooklyn, 1883. m. Oakley. (23) Elizabeth Miller, died in New York. m. Mabbett. (24) Maria Miller died in Brooklyn 1917. m. John Henry Tipton was not listed, nor was Mary Jane Reagan. However, there are a lot of John/Jonathan's listed, but I couldn't find any that might match yours. Most of the Tipton information given is very early ca. 1730 - ca. 1850, with no descendant information listed past 1840. Interestingly though in the early material, "Major Jonathan Tipton married, first in Washington District, NC (Washington County, TN), Kezia, a daughter of Chrales Robertson. Keziah was the widow of Captain Robert Sevier, younger brother of General John Sevier. Robert was killed at King's Mountain." ... Major Jonathan Tipton migrated first to Buncombe County, NC then to Overton County, TN. Any connections? -Bev Original Message ----- > for a john henry > tipton-m-mary jane reagan from sevier co? > no big hurry-he's grandpa of son in law. Understand time restrictions
I checked for Hugh KELSO in the "History of Washington County 1988" but there were no KELSO persons listed. As requested, here is the continuation of the FITZGERALD information from the "History of Washington County, TN 1988" Other Surnames contained in transcription below: BROWN, PEOPLES, WAKEFIELD, MCINTURFF, TORBETT, BERRY, PHILLIPS, PATTON, MELVIN, McKEEHAN, BOND, OLIVER, EPPERSON, LITTLE, SIMMONS, JONES, LOOPER, BUCKINGHAM, CRAVENS, GRAY, HOVATTER We left off naming the children of Richard Fitzgerald and Amanda Chapman. The next portion goes on to name their grandchildren and some great grandchildren as well as meandering to the BROWN family pedigree. Hi Jean, The book I was referring to isn't necessarily a 'cemetery' book if you are looking for specific dates for one person, etc. I suggest you send an e-mail to either Pat Sabin at "[email protected]' or Betty Jane Hylton at "[email protected] for the exact address of the museum in Jonesborough where I know they sell them. In know Betty Jane would know the cost, etc. She is a great person to ask most anything about Washington Co., she was also born there - I sent you an earlier message today to send me your names you want me to lookup. Hello All, I am trying to find where 50 acres of land that John Gillis owned is located. The description is :land in Washington Co.on the Mill Fork of Limestone forming James Allisons and John Gillilands land begginings...the land was purchased from Micheal Harrison. There are two Limestones big and little but were there two Mill Forks?Does Mill Fork mean where a mill was built at the fork of the river or does it have an other meaning. This transaction took place in 1798.I hope someone can help. Has anyone put together land maps that show these early settlers and where they lived? The Watagua Grants are to early for me.Connie Kelly

I looked up Meshac Tipton but he wasn't listed. And unfortuntaely, there are a lot of Jonathan Tipton's listed. I'm sorry I can't transcribe all the Jonathan Tipton information for you, perhaps someone else on the list has time?? I received about 30 transcription requests via e-mail after responding to the Fitzgerald query and unfortunately I just don't have the time to transcribe every page. Oh how I wish I did! But it's a HUGE book with a great deal of information on a great number of families. I do recommend it for the Tipton information contained in it. And I understand they are coming out with a brand new printing of the book. Unfortunately, I deleted the e-mail that gave information on where to purchase it. If anyone knows, could you either re-post the information to the list or send it directly to me so I can forward it to all those I receive transcription requests from? And I am in no way connected to the publishers of the book, nor do I stand to profit from it's sales. I'm just another family researcher who has found a great deal of wonderful information in the book. And I'll still gladly look up names in the index, and let you know if they are listed so you don't have to purchase the book if your families aren't covered. I just can't transcribe whole pages of surname information. My family and work responsibilities make it impossible. :-( -Bev Bradenton, FL ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> > Could I get information you come across on Johnothan Tipton,I am decended > thru Meshac and Elizabeth Clark Tipton. > Thanks > E.Hollifield > >
