Christy In 1830 Congress passed the Indian Removal Act (Pres Andrew Jackson's effort) which was to force Native Americans to move west of the Mississippi. The Trail of Tears I think began around 1838. There is an Eastern Band of Cherokee that stayed East of the Mississippi but I believe they were forced onto the reservation and those that signed to remove went to the Oklahoma territory. There are a number of great sites out there that go into detail. I do not have any proven Native American lines but I suspect that there may be some if not in my own lines in collateral lines. I fixed myself a page of links I thought were pretty useful if you wanna view that its located at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/na.html Hope this helps --MarieB-)
