Carolyn: What do you know about your Abigail? I am searching the Holcomb family of Warren county too. The farthest I got is with Jeptha Holcombe & his wife Martha Newby Holcombe. I am searching for Jeptha's parents. Carol Walker Frankowski

Not allot. Recently and only after a kind soul, Christy, did a cemetery lookup for me and said that Benjamin BATES wife, Abigail's last name was listed as Holcomb, did I know. According to most information available she was born in VT. Some of her children, Elisha b abt 1821, Norman b 1822, Almond b.1831, Williston b. 1834 and perhaps Louisa were born in PA. The rest of the children, Broomfield Ridley, Lucy, Mariah, Martha Jane & Juliet were born in Warren Co. TN. By the way, her whole name is Priscilla Abigail b 1802. I don't know where in Vt. Benjamin and Abigail (Abigal) were listed in the 1840 Warren Co. census. The 1840 index says Wilson Co. but the actually record is recorded in Warren Co. She was listed as head of household in 1850, 1860. In 1870, she is listed as living in the household of Jonathan and Elizabeth Phillips. I ask a male BATES cousin to participate in the BATES DNA study so I am hoping at some point to be able to find the birth locations to help further search. I would also like to know if anyone has any information on Abigail's daughter Louisa. Apparently she married a Dr. Koger and moved to Grove, GA. In 1907, she was a widow living in Grove. Wish I could find out even where Grove, GA is or was. Any suggestions are help appreciated.
