Ladye, Can you confirm or deny that Monroe Davis was the son of John C. Davis as mentioned below in my notes. I have never been able to connect this husband of Rebecca Hillis with parents. Rebecca is buried in the Friendship Cemetery, perhaps Monroe is buried there also. Regards, Ken Robertson Descendants of Monroe Davis Generation No. 1 1. A native of Warren county, Mrs. Davis was a daughter of Ike Hillis and Nancy Hillis. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Floyd and Denny Davis, Campaign, and T. R. Davis , Quebeck; one daughter, Mrs. Maude Rutledge, Campaign. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home. ** ** Campaign community– May 16, 1952 page 17 Death Removed one of our oldest citizens Friday night when Mrs. Rebecca Davis departed this life after an illness of about four months. "Aunt Beck" and her husband, "Uncle Mon" have resided in Campaign some 25 years, and had enjoyed wedded bliss close to 70 years, having married in their early teens. Althought they have no records, their ages are said to be 84 for her and 90 or 91 for him. Mrs. Davis was a daughter of Ike and Nancy McBride Hillis born in the Goodbars community of this community of this county and spent all of her life in Warren and Van Buren. She was a member of the Methodist church, a good woman, who never took to the fads and frills of our modern age. She was devoted to her home and family, kind to her neighbors and loved by their children. This world would be a better place if more people, like Aunt Beck, would love the simple things of life, and have some of her kindness, good heartedness, and patience. She was the mother of ten children, 9 sons and one daughter, all deceased except Titus of Quebeck, Dennie and Floyd and Mrs. Maude Rutledge of this place. She played a great part in rearing of two grandsons, Zollie and Woodrow Davis, also of this place. She was known to her family as Mammy and to her aged husband as "Becky" who confided to us that in all the trials and tribulations of his long life, the loss of his companion, was the hardest to bear. She is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all to whom our community offers sympathy. Funeral services and burial at Friendship Sunday P.M. conducted by Bro. Brannon and Mr. High. *** Children of MONROE DAVIS and REBECCA HILLIS are: i. FLOYD2 DAVIS. ii. DENNY DAVIS. 2. iii. TITUS R. DAVIS, b. 1890, Tennessee. iv. MAUDE DAVIS. Generation No. 2 2.
