Since both my gggrandfather and his sister, Jemima, named a son John Marshall, the possibility that their father's name was John is great. We know by DNA we have no relationship whatsoever to the John Martin who married Catherine Cantrell. I am also looking for names of those who were in the wagon train to Missouri around 1850. Family lore says it was organized by John Cantrell. #126 John Martin enters nineteen acres of land in Warren CountyTn on the west side of Collins River beginning in said Martins north west corner near the Bank of said river running then south to a line of a tract of land where the widow Patterson lives then west to where it intersects Green Woods line then north with his line to Collins river then up the River with its meanders to the beg. (June 18, 1824, John Martin # 3395 Heirs of John Martin page 325. Surveyed 15 Aug 1833 for Wm C Wood, 7 Acres, entry dated 26th Dec 1831on Collins River on the widow Christian Sr. N W Corner of her 200 ;ac tract. Tract belonging to heirs of John Martin deceased. Wm Martin and Green Wood .cc Above entry called for 15 acre 3472 John Parsley 125 Ac beginning Horicane Creek? Next to Ferrell 1831 (Wife of John Martin is Sarah? ) # 3359 Sally (Sarah)Martin enters ten acres of land in the county of Warren, Tennessee on the waters of Collins River. Beginning on a white oak the corner of a fifty acre tract entered by John Martin deceased in his life time by warrant running thence west and south for compliment Oct 17th 1830. I believe that John Martin died abt 1826 . His wife was Sarah or Sally. She was the second wife of John Martin. There is a possibility that the William Martin who was the chain carrier was the father of John who died. *************************************************************************** This is an automatically-generated notice.
