    2. Jenny, You might check newspapers in the areas you are researching. I have located numerous accounts of my ancestors going back to 1794 which has been great because there where courthouse fires. I know there are prison records for TN but they only list the crime and victims are not named. Those you can find on the TN state site. If you do locate where your ancestor was murdered then there would be accounted in the newspapers which are on microfilm. You can get them sometimes through an interlibrary loan. Also check with the LDS they may have them on microfilm also. Once you locate the county where he was murdered check with the chief of police or sheriff's dept. to see if they have any records.
