He was born in Ireland, fought in the Revolutionary War and lived for a time in both North and South Carolina before moving to Tennessee. He applied for a pension in 1834 in Warren County but do not know where he is buried. One source says it was in Jackson County, Alabama but his son, James, states in a later census that he died in Tennessee.
