Richard Hames, Company I, 35 Tennessee Allegiance: Confederate Notes: Haines, Richard The state of TN would have any military and pension records for him. The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors website had this information on him: 35th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry (5th Infantry) (1st Mountain Rifle Regiment), Company 1IH The card that they took the information from was on microfilm M231, roll 18. They also have a description of the regiment that you'd find interesting to read. You can also choose to see a list of the men who served with your Richard Hames. When I first searched the http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ website for your Richard Hames, it did not find him. So I searched for TN confederate regiments on http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/regiments.htm and scrolled to the 35th. Then when I searched for Richard Hames' name, the search engine found it. Strange that it couldn't find him initially. The Soldiers and Sailors website says that the 35th was organized "at Camp Smartt, near McMinnville, Tennessee. Its men were from the counties of Grundy, Warren, Van Buren, Cannon, Sequatchie, DeKalb, Hamilton, and Bledsoe." I hope this helps.
