I'm wondering if your Brewer family may be connected to the Brewer family who settled in what is now Coffee County (was Warren until 1836), on the old stagecoach road towards Shelbyville, around 1805 from North Carolina? If I recall, it was Calvin Brewer and his wife, Nancy Toliver. I believe these Brewers were related to old Henry Brewer who was in Ashe County, NC in 1790 or 1800 census as "Bruir" or "Bruer". Nancy's mother was Tabitha (Howell) Brewer, sister to my 5th great grandfather George Brewer of Grayson County, Virginia. Also, William Hood, brother of Confederate General John Bell Hood, Commander of the Army of Tennessee (1864 - battles of Springhill, Franklin, and Nashville), is buried at Bascom Cemetery on the way to Viola, and his second or third wife was a Mary Brewer. I think she is buried with William Hood at Bascom cemetery. Hope this helps somewhat! I descend from George Brewer who died around 1722 in Brunswick County, Virginia and his wife, Sarah Lanier.
