He and Eletha were married in McMinn County, Tennessee. Eletha (spelled Eliza) is listed as head of household in the 1860 Cherokee County census and shown with the younger children. John's father, Thomas Parsons, died in McMinn County, Tennessee, possibly in late 1835 or early 1836. From his probate records we can tell he had eight children: John, Nancy, Thomas, William, Mary, Emanuel ("Mann"), Rebecca, and Joseph. At the time of his death, he was married to a Jane or Jane Ann, who was guardian of the youngest child, Joseph. Any information on the birthplace or birth date of Thomas Sr. or on his marriage place and date with Susan Madice would be greatly appreciated.
