Stephen Blake Hunter, 25 Nov 1984 - 17 Dec 2005, is a descendant of Daniel Boone's brother Edward Boone and Dudley Hunter. Dudley Hunter, 7 Nov 1794 - 27 Oct 1862, was in Sparta on 27 Oct 1862 riding one of his prize horses. Union troops were in town that day. Seeing him on the fine horse, he was accosted and told to give up the horse. He refused. They shot him dead right there by the court house on the public square and took his horse.
