I dont know yet Charles. I am trying to place my Harbred H. Towles somewhere in TN. I have not made the connection yet. I am aware of the family of Oliver Towles there in McMinnville and since of the children in Humpheries I found, that I suspect are siblings, one is named Oliver, I suspect a connection but have not been able to find it yet. Thanks for asking and for the little tidbit on Towles Ave. That's what makes genealogy interesting. Scott Date: Tuesday, 17 January 2006, at 11:39 p.m. James and Martha McGregor Mitchell, moved from N.C. to Warren Co. abt. 1800~1810 way I have it figured since they had 11 children and the first was born in 1811 (William B. Mitchell) This B could stand for either Box or Burleson some has it both way's I tend to think Box since the Box Family are supposedly in the family farther back and why Burleson he William married a Malinda (Matilda) Burleson the family would have had to had connections with this Clan before William was born. This was my 2nd Great-Grandfather. All the other 10 children were born there too...in McMinnville or there close 'bouts. The second child was Lucinda A. she Married a Tidence Shipley abt 1843. The third was Margaret J. "Peggy" she married Isaac N. (I think Newton)Martin Abt. 1842 The fourth was Maxwell he married Rachel Foster in 1849. He died in the Civil War and his whereabouts are unknown. January 31, 1863 The fifth child was Richmond married Luinda Shipley abt. 1846 the sixth child was William Ela He marred abt. 1847 to Cynthia Adeline Morton and moved to Texas and died on April 27, 1883 in the F-5 toranado that tore through Bell County,Texas. The seventh was James Andrew he married a Charlotte Adeline Harris about 1853 in Missouri. The eighth child was Elizabeth H. "Eliza" Mitchell marred a Greenberry Cartwright in 1854. Not much is known about the ninth child Alfred P. he married probally in Missouri year unknown to a Ellen McGuire.. there is a Alfred Mitchell listed in the Dade County Poorhouse Book unknown if it is the same at this time, as some has him as having died in Texas winter of 1902. the tenth child Raleigh marred a Cynthia Underwood abt 1858 in Missouri. He died in Oklahoma 1913. The eleventh child was Mary (Molly)Polly married a John Jackson Shipley abt 1841. This Group Moved to Dade County, Missouri in 1850. Hi List, I'm hoping that someone out there may have knowledge of the Thomas Word family in the 1820 census? I believe one of their children to be a Berry J. Word that married a Mary Tidwell (daughter of Mark Jones Tidwell and Elenor Starnes) of Warren County. They later married and settled in DeKalb County, Alabama. From reading some of the notes that Thomas Barnes left in the papers he kept on families in that area, he felt there may be a connection between Thomas, Berry J. and Martha Word/Taylor, wife of Willis Taylor. This has been a stumbling block for me, and so if anyone happens to have any information on this family, I would greatly appreciate it. Also if there happens to be any of Willis Taylor's descendents out there, I would love to hear from them. I am sorry if I'm asking too much, but I thought I should state it all at once, or I would forget it. You know, one of the "Senior Moments" (smiling). Thanks for you time and any trouble you may go through on my behalf. Jan Kelley bhdjkelley@hotmail.com

I am seeking information on the parents of Harbred H. Towles born TN Nov 14, 1842, unknown county. I found him on the 1850 census in Humpherys Co TN living with J. T. Waggoner and wife Letitia. I show 3 other Towles/Tolls children living in the county 1850 with other families ( Folks, Lucas, and Jackson). I suspect they were adopted after a death of parents but have no proof. I went over the Humpheries county court minutes prior to 1850 and find no guardianship info on them in that county. Since the main county for the presence of Towles in TN is Warren Co, I have decided to continue my search here. I suspect a Waggoner and Massey connection and perhaps a Russell connection for various reasons. (2nd son is named Harbred Massey Towles and we found in Humpheries Co a Harbred H. Massey.) Harbred H. was living in 1860 in Ripley Co MO with a Russell family. Does anyone on this list even suspect a connection to him? Slim chance but you dont know until you ask.
