He was born in Ireland, fought in the Revolutionary War and lived for a time in both North and South Carolina before moving to Tennessee. He applied for a pension in 1834 in Warren County but do not know where he is buried. One source says it was in Jackson County, Alabama but his son, James, states in a later census that he died in Tennessee. If you have any information that might be of help it would be greatly appreciated. 3. Greetings all, The message yesterday from Charles Page < ldpage@bellsouth.net > was way off subject, and according to one reader, "Political, bigoted and highly offensive..." -- another reader wrote that it was "inflammatory." Charles Page will soon be unsubbed and banned from this list. The message yesterday from W.L. Robinson < wlrob@aol.com > was way off subject, offensive, and inflammatory. W.L. Robinson will soon be unsubbed and banned from this list. The message today from Joe Sissom < joesissom@comcast.net > was way off subject, but certainly not inflammatory. Joe is hereby advised to stick to the subject of this list. And what is the subject of this list? Well, it's genealogy and history, especially that of Warren County Tennessee. Usually, I have zero tolerance for inappropriate postings -- so mind your manners and don't tempt me. For the record, THIS THREAD IS CLOSED! Do not reply to this message. 1. Government ---- ALL government
    2. Joe Sissom
    3. There is some right and wrong here on both 'sides', and YES, it belongs if done right. Whether those of you on the liberal (Democratic, for the most part) side of the argument want to admit it or not, a growing gov't at ALL levels is going to spend more of your money and reduce your opportunities to make decisions for yourself. The 1st responsibility of any bureaucrat at any level is to justify his job. "Do something." And it is fine to 'SLAM' gov't, at any level, but not w/ unsubstantiated vague charges, nor w/o a proposed solution. Don't whine and complain. How many of you KNOW your mayor, city mgr,. councilbodies, etc., much less the pres. of the US which I am priveledged to do (living in Dallas area, that ain't all that difficult). I disagree w/ him frequently, but I am not DISAGREEABLE about it. County gov't is notorious for destroying or poor storage of records of extreme value to genealogists. Have you joined w/ your local gensoc and visited w/ your county clerk or whomever is responsible? Do you KNOW your state legislator, senator? Do you KNOW your congressman? I do, and believe me, they know ME. I have known my congressman Pete Sessions for years. He is a fellow alum of Southwestern Univ. and a fraternity brother ---- but you should read the blistering email he got from me about spending $44G of YOUR money on a fancy bridge. You don't have to agree or disagree w/ a politician all of the time to communicate w/ them. But name calling and undocumented claims don't work --- haven't we as 'researchers' (???) learned that yet? And don't give me any nonsense about 'they' won't listen. Pardon the personal reference, but while GWB was gov., I was associated w/ 2 non-profits. State regs did not permit them to hold 'meetings' on line since the laws were written before the internet existed. I wrote the needed changes up, submitted it, testified before the appropriate committees, and it was accepted unnanimously, and has since been adopted by most/all other states. NO, I am not a lawyer. All you need is to recognize a problem that can be solved..... again, at any level. Gov't over reaching at ALL levels will continue unless YOU are willing to do something about it. My gg-grandmother was his second wife, Ellen Wiseman Hennessee Hayes. My g-grandfather was their son James Markus Hayes. They had a "blended family" with five children by Laura and Ellen had children from her first marriage to a Hennessee and Elmore and Ellen then had 3 of children. You can see them in the 1880 census of Warren County, TN. 2. Mike & Donna OBrien
    3. Okay, this is probably a long shot, but I'm trying to figure out the details of an old photo. My grandmother wrote on the back what looks like "Werners Log Camp School" -- Mr. Gilbert Shely. The front of the picture looks like a school group and she marked it "Shely's Best" -- In the picture are children with these surnames: Patrick, Harris, Sherman and King. I'm guessing the date to be about 1928. Does anyone know if this school was in Warren or Marion Co? I tried Grundy first because that seemed most logical, but nobody seemed to know where it is. Thanks... Donna O'Brien
