Fleming Merritt married Nancy Ann Magaan in Virginia. They came to Nashville TN then into Smith County, TN then into Jackson County (the part that became Clay Co.) After Fleming died, they all went to Missouri. Elizabeth Ann Merritt, the Widow Mrs. James Kitchin) was my great great grandfather's third wife and they were married in the Little Trace Church of Christ (now in Clay co) in 1853. I have the written Memoirs of their son, Paris Clark Martin. b 1857. Using his Memoirs as a tool, I have found out much about his Merritt Grandparents. would love to share. *************************************************************************** This is an automatically-generated notice. I cannot find out much about Nathan Stanley. The family verbal history said that grandma Sallie was Native American. I have a bunch of my research and gatherings in a family tree software file and would be happy to share what I have been working with. He and Eletha were married in McMinn County, Tennessee. Eletha (spelled Eliza) is listed as head of household in the 1860 Cherokee County census and shown with the younger children. John's father, Thomas Parsons, died in McMinn County, Tennessee, possibly in late 1835 or early 1836. From his probate records we can tell he had eight children: John, Nancy, Thomas, William, Mary, Emanuel ("Mann"), Rebecca, and Joseph. At the time of his death, he was married to a Jane or Jane Ann, who was guardian of the youngest child, Joseph. Any information on the birthplace or birth date of Thomas Sr. or on his marriage place and date with Susan Madice would be greatly appreciated. See my website, members.cox.net/nparsons13, for the information I've been able to collect on this family. I have located some marriage records through churchs & military records. One of my ancestors was killed by Indians in 1794 and another ancestor his brother lost his land through back taxes in 1832. These facts I located through newspaper asbtracts. I also research adjoining counties as well as the parent county and have located other siblings. Hope this gives you some other creative ideas for researching.
