I am looking for any information regarding my John Daniel b 1769 Va. The date of birth and state are based on Census Records. He was living in then Warren County Tn. in 1811 where his son Peter was born. The 1820 Warren County Tn. Census indicates 3 male and 3 female living in the household of John and the 1830 Census shows 1 male and 2 females in the household which would tie in age wise with the 3 eldest being adults. John died in 1853 in Cannon County Tn. and in his will, he left everything to his son Peter and his wife Nancy A???? with no other children being named. Nancy would have been born c 1775 in Va. again based on Census Records. John purchased and owned several parcels of land in the Short Mountain area of Cannon County Tn. and I believe that he lived in that area from at least 1811 till his death. I am looking for any kind of records indicating the parents of John, the surname and parents of Nancy (may be Native American), and the given names of the unide! ntified 5 children. Any imformation will be greatly appreciated.

Does Warren Co. have a web site? Thanks.
I'm looking for C.A. Reevis/Reavis around 1820. His daughter, Mary Ann and husband, John W. Randolph may have been living with him.
Greetings all, This info on a new book was sent personally to me. Since you may have an interest in this subject matter, and since you TNWARREN list members have indicated that you want to know when new Tennessee books become available, I am posting the message. Be aware that direct posting of ads is not allowed on this list. If you do a self-published book on Tennessee material, write to me personally and I will consider getting the info to the list. Fred Smoot TNWARREN Administrator. >> New book may reveal Your Ancestors in the State Penitentiary! Announcing the publication of the second volume of Tennessee Convicts: Early Records of the State Penitentiary. This volume covers records from 1850 through 1870, including more than 2,200 prisoners and their family members who are named in the original ledger volumes. During this period abolitionists, Confederate bushwhackers and Union army soldiers convicted by courts martial were among those who crowded the State Penitentiary. In addition, the regular complement of counterfeiters, horse thieves and murderers from across the state are also represented. For more information on this book please see this web page: www.angelfire.com/tn3/sherrill You may also contact the author, Chuck Sherrill, by e-mail at: [email protected] (The original volume, listing prisoners 1830-1850, is presently out of print.) <<
>From census data here in TN, we must conclude that Tabitha is, in all likelihood, the sister of Capt. George Howell. John Tolliver/Talliaferro married Tabitha Howell about 1780, probably in Montgomery County, Va or across the river in North Carolina. Their daughter, Nancy B. Tolliver, was born February 9, 1785, and died February 27, 1869 in Warren County, TN. She married Russell Brewer, who's ancestry is as yet unknown, about 1804. Russell was born January 28, 1785 and died September 1, 1858. They're buried at the Jacksboro/Trousdale cemetery in Warren County, not far from the Coffee County line. Their son, Calvin C. Brewer, was born 1828 in Warren County, TN. He was Captain of B. Company, 16th Infantry, C.S.A., and was killed near Viola in Warren County on October 17, 1861. The Coffee County UDC chapter here is the "Capt. Calvin C. Brewer Chapter..." There's a photo of him in the old Coffee County courthouse in Manchester. John Tolliver apparently was in Smith County before 1806, as his name and that of Russell Brewer appear on the petition dated August 6, 1806 to form Warren County. I've not been able to find out where John and Tabitha (Howell) Tolliver are buried, however. I guess they might also be buried at Jacksboro. It would be interesting to find out more info on old John Tolliver back in Virginia!
Recently I ran across some land deed references in Warren County records regarding an Elijah Howell and George Howell. Anyone have some info on these men and where this land was located? I'm wondering if this was George Howell Jr., brother of Drucilla (Howell) Hash of Rock Island? Drucilla was born 1792 in Grayson County, Virginia to Capt. George Howell and Mary "Polly" Osborne. Her brothers Calvin Howell and John Howell arrived in White County, TN between March 1811 and August 1812 with Richard Cole, and bought land along Cherry Creek adjacent Thomas McBride. I am descended from John Howell through his daughter, Sarah Howell who married (1) John Rice about 1832, and (2) John Jaco, about 1837. Her son Marion Rice was my great-great grandfather. I'm very interested in hearing from anyone with info on the Howell and Hash families in Warren County. Thanks Will Smith Manchester
I recently found land grants listed on the index of a Warren Co.Land grants book, Is anyone doing lookups?? Mine is just two: H.S.Ferguson ,page 27 and Hubbard S.Ferguson Page 3 I sure would appreciate it, if someone would help me. Thank you. C.J. Williams
Does anyone know the parents of Francis Marion Randolph and Elizabeth Reed? Supposedly they were married in Henry Co. I think his parents were John William Randolph and Mary Ann Reavis/Reevis, but can find no proof. I do believe that John & Mary Randolph lived there at the time of at least the birth of two children, Sophia Catherine and Francis Elizabeth. Other children living with them there were: Nathaniel Easterly, Rial(Royal) Miller, Samuel Richard, Francis Marion. After they left Henry Co., supposedly they were in Warren Co., Tn. where their two youngest, James M. and Jasper Newton were born. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jan Patton [email protected]
Robert Stout, b. 25 Dec 1804, is thought to have been originally from Warren Co., TN. He is first found in KY, when he married Elizabeth Holt, 30 Mar 1824, in Jefferson Co., KY. He had at least one brother, Jesse, who came to Jeff. Co. as well, and was born in year 1800. Those who have reseached their families and descendents, have never been able to determine who Robert's and Jesse's parents where. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don Dearing
Hello, I need directions to the Hash Cemetery in Rock Island where Thomas and Drucilla (Howell) Hash are buried. I live in Manchester, Coffee County. Thanks, Will Smith
Dear List, It’s been a couple years since my last posting and no luck yet in my search for information on the Gordons of early 1800s of Warren Co. There were 3 Gordon families around 1810 (also several single Gordons) in the area and I am looking for info on any of them. The three Gordon families: 1) Family one: Robert GORDON (1773-1854) & Sarah GORDON 2) Family two: James (1784-1820) & Elizabeth (STOCKSTILL) GORDON (James was a private in the militia under Mr. Chisum’s Company). 3) Family three: John & Mary (Black) GORDON Also in Warren Co. was Charles GORDON (participated in Rev. War); John Jr. GORDON and a “Widow” GORDON. All except for Robert, Sarah and Elizabeth Gordon, in 1820 all the other Gordons seem to have disappeared. I am trying to determine if and how these families were related and where they came from. If you have any ideas / leads, please let me know. Tei A. Gordon
Does anyone on the list have any idea when Warren County, Tennessee started keeping death records. Thanks a lot.

Like all things "new and improved," something always gets lost in the shuffle. Can anyone tell me where they have stuck Ann Turner's 1850 Warren County Census "Correlations" page? Neither my link nor the link on the county site are working anymore. Thank you, Nancy in MO

Sad news! I had not heard from Maxine Reggio since she went into the hospital some time ago. I called Maxine Reggio today, Sun 17 Feb 2002. She passed away Friday a week ago, 8 Feb 2002. Maxine will be sorely missed by many of the people she has helped. Her five books of Obituaries will continue to help people in their ancestor searches. People researching Warren County, Tennessee, especially, owe her a debt of gratitude. And the Maxine Reggio, I knew only by e-mail, will be happy that her books will continue to help people. All five of Maxine's books are in the Magness Memorial Library, McMinnville, TN. I spoke with her son's wife and Maxine's husband, Michael Reggio. They will fulfill any book commitments. The name and snail-mail are the same: Maxine Reggio 7205 NW 46th. St. Bethany, OK 73008-2317 405-789-3337 <[email protected]> Ladye Jane Hunter
