LONGMIRE, SIDNEY LEAMON - age 77 of Blaine passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at home. He was born August 31, 1931 to Horace and Bertha Bledsoe Longmire in Loyston, TN. He served in the army as a corporal in the Korean War and during that time met and married Mary, the love of his life. He retired from Robertshaw Controls after 38 years of service and then his days were spent doing what he loved most - family get-togethers, gardening, fishing and farming. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Member of Block Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Horace and Bertha Bledsoe Longmire. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Tarver Longmire; son, Mike Longmire and wife Tammy; daughters, Brenda Simmons and husband David, and Tammy Canant and husband Allen; grandchildren, Chad Mink, Michael Longmire, Randy Longmire, Ashley Canant, and Amanda Canant; great grandsons, Bobby Mink and Blake Mink; brother, Knox Longmire; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Block Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Ballard officiating followed by the interment at Block Springs Cemetery with military honors provided by the East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
