    1. Re: [TNUNION] question regarding Elbert L Hammack or Hammock
    2. Thanks Nancy, Your middle name made me curious.  Easter's sister was my wife's Grandmother, Jennie Cassada Yadon.  Jennie married Elbert Shumate.  Let me know if you have any questions on the Shumate or Yadon families. Yankee ears and Tennessee drawls don't mix too well.   My connection with Elbert's line is really stretched - you'd have to go all the way back to John Hammock Sr (1755-1840) and Nancy Maples. My Martin is 'probably' one of their children, although there's no proof of that anywhere. Elbert descends from John's son William and his wife Sarah Brock.   Nancy     From: "rpevans1@comcast.net" <rpevans1@comcast.net> To: Nancy Cassada Nelson <nc.nelson@yahoo.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 4:41 PM Subject: Re: [TNUNION] question regarding Elbert L Hammack or Hammock Hi Nancy,   Easter was born Dec 23, 1890 and died in December 1955.  Her parents were Louis Calloway Yadon and Mary E. McHone.   Just curious, are you descended from Easter and Elbert?   Thanks, Ron From: "Nancy Cassada Nelson" <nc.nelson@yahoo.com> To: rpevans1@comcast.net Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 4:20:01 PM Subject: Re: [TNUNION] question regarding Elbert L Hammack or Hammock Hi Ron   No, Elbert is buried with his parents in the Thomas Cemetery in Grainger County. There is a photo of his stone at findagrave.com . It is a military stone, he seems to have been in World War I.   I don't have Easter's birth or death dates, can you send me those? Also her mother's maiden name if you know it.   I'll let you know if I hear anything about the murder. I found Elbert's death certificate at familysearch.org . Cause of death is "murdered by knife stab in heart". Place of death is Union County, then it asks if injury occured in industry, home, or what? answer is "near Haun Cemetery".   Somebody told me they used to meet there & play cards and gamble. I wonder if it had something to do with that.   Thanx   Nancy From: "rpevans1@comcast.net" <rpevans1@comcast.net> To: Nancy Cassada Nelson <nc.nelson@yahoo.com>; tnunion@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 10:56 AM Subject: Re: [TNUNION] question regarding Elbert L Hammack or Hammock I have information on Easter, but the only I knew about her husband was his last name.   She's buried in the Hamilton Cemetery.   Is he buried there too?   Thanks, Ron Evans Powell, TN From: "Nancy Cassada Nelson" <nc.nelson@yahoo.com> To: TNUNION@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 8:28:10 AM Subject: [TNUNION] question regarding Elbert L Hammack or Hammock Can anyone tell me the story behind the murder of Elbert L Hammack (or Hammock) on August 3, 1933? He was the son of Levi Hammock and Eliza Thomas, his wife was Easter Yadon.   He was stabbed to death near the Haun Cemetery in Union County. At the time he was 44 year old.   Nancy Cassada Nelson Chesterfield NJ   ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNUNION-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
