I did not check for Joel Turner in 1850 Claiborne County. I am interested in Turners because of a 3rd gr grandmother, Annie Turner, b c1786, md Joseph Allen, b c1778-82. Annie's Turners came to Buncombe/Haywood Counties NC, from Caswell County NC, and before that, her father, Joseph Allen, from Halifax County VA. Joseph & Annie Allen lived in Yancey County NC. Their son, Joseph Poke Allen, b 1818 Buncombe County NC, md Frances/Fanny Bradley, b 1811 Pendleton Dist. SC (my gg grandmother), and moved to Union County TN before 1875. After Fanny's death in 1881, he married Agnes Sharp. He may be related in some way to your Turners.
