Several Union County Cemeteries are now listed on Find A Grave where many memorials have marker photos and links to other family memorials. These cemeteries can be linked from the UCCA home page @ http://www.usgennet.org/usa/tn/county/union2/index.htm -----Original Message----- From: tnunion-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tnunion-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of GeneHelper@aol.com Sent: Friday, February 11, 2011 7:15 AM To: TnUnion@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNUNION] Which Book "Our Union Co Heritage" Should I buy? Let me add that in a related category of material (no pictures or family s tories but a wealth off family information), put the Ailor Mortuary books on your list of materials to get at some point. I also like the Footprint book of the cemeteries. Although I know a lot of cemetery books done in the style of Footprints, I have to say that I was disappointed in that the author alphabetized each cemetery (unnecessary when there's an index in back) and also loses the context of individual families when everyone with the same name gets lumped together alphabetically. As much as I love that book, it is a never ending frustration when I can't figure out who some people belonged to, or if they're from a different branch of the family, or no connection, just having the same name (as in the case of the really common names.) In the ones we're doing here in Omaha, NE (lots more graves, lots of cemeteries), we're leaving the rows intact, and we include everything written on the marker, plus a rough description of the art work because it may give clues to the person's (or the family's) belief system/interests, etc. Karen In a message dated 2/10/2011 5:43:19 P.M.
