He passed peacefully at his farm, where he lived out his lifelong dream of being a farmer. Pops took great pride in his farm and was named Union County Farmer of the Year in 2008. One of his favorite things was going to 33 Diner, although more to aggravate the ladies than for the food. He also loved his family and his cows. Although his address has changed now, we know his passion has not. Now he is farming in Heaven, preparing for the biggest feast ever, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. He is preceded in death by: parents, Orville and Nina Ruggles Caldwell; wife, Millie Caldwell; son, Mark A. Caldwell; brothers, Carl and Ed; sister, Betty Bounds. Survivors: special friend, Betty Loveday; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike, Darryl and Irene, Tim and Grace, Jim and Tammy; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Eddie Parton; granddaughters, Michelle Sims, Heather Hall, Vanessa Parton; grandsons, Eric, Sean, Aron, Jason, and Justin Caldwell; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the church with Reverend Donald Watkins and Reverend Will Runyon officiating. Family and friends will meet at Caldonia Cemetery 1:45 p.m. for 2:00 p.m. interment. The family would like to give a special thanks to Home Health Care and Nurse Janet who lovingly cared for him during his final days. McCarty Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
