    3. STOOKSBURY, SCHULER CLINE - age 96, of Farragut, a long time member of Concord United Methodist Church, passed away at Parkwest Hospital May 10, 2009. Schuler was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret Norton Stooksbury; his parents, Caswell and Nancy Jane Fox Stooksbury; two brothers, Porter and Hubert Stooksbury; five sisters, Marie Irwin, Blanche Keller, Edith Longmire, Dora Huffman and Garnette Williams. Also preceding him in death were three nephews, Earl Irwin, Rex Irwin and Kenneth Keller. Nieces and nephews surviving him are George Stooksbury of Lenoir City, Paul Irwin and James Irwin of Clinton, Jane Keller Stahl of Ashville, NY, Allen Longmire of Andersonville, Frances Huffman Nides of Tyrone, GA, Lafayette Williams and Gail Williams Welch of Knoxville, Sarah Williams Stewart of Lansing, Kansas and Wendell Williams of Jefferson City. Schuler's kind spirit of helpfulness, interest in and support of others will be lovingly remembered. He was always positive and encouraging to each of his descendents. His life and his actions demonstrated his strong faith in God. He is also survived by a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Clyde Norton of Friendsville. Frances Mashburn Mitchell was his dear friend. Johnny Smith and others on Boring Road were great friends and neighbors along with Charlie Kuykendall who provided companionship and caregiving. Schuler moved to NHS Assisted Living, Farragut in 2005 and spent his final years in a loving community of professional care. He appreciated the staff and friendships found there. Schuler was born and raised on a farm in Union County near Loyston. His family relocated to West Knox County in 1935, due to the construction of Norris Dam and the lake flooding the family farm. Schuler worked for TVA on the construction of Norris Dam and continued farming in Knox County. During World War II, he worked in Detroit, MI on automotive and aircraft projects for four and one-half years. He returned to Knox County after the war to farm. He married Mary Margaret Norton and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Concord. When he retired, he continued farming, gardening and traveling with his wife. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Brent Hall officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Thursday at Concord Masonic Cemetery for Graveside Services and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Margaret Norton and Schuler C. Stooksbury Endowment Fund at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN 37934 or to Concord Masonic Cemetery Fund, 2524 Lakefront Drive, Knoxville, TN 37922.
