He worked at the Kokomo Post Office, Prudential Insurance Company and owned and operated Poor John's Restaurant in Galveston for 18 years. He was a member of the Howard Masonic Lodge # 93 F&AM and was past master in 1970, member of York Rite and Scottish Rite and belonged to the Murat Temple in Indianapolis. Preceded in death by parents, Luna and Nellie (Shoffner) Sherritze; sister, Mary Alice and husband Paris Keck; brothers, Charles (Rattler) and Earl Sherritze; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Floy (Shoffner) Cole; sister-in-law, Brenda Chittum and brother-in-law, Beecher Cole. Survived by loving wife of 53 years, Ann Cole Sherritze; niece, Christy and Jeff Grimm, who he thought of as a sister; two special grandchildren he loved dearly, Leri and Jacey; sister-in-law, Loretta Sherritze of Knoxville; brother, Wade and Finna Sherritze of Knoxville; sisters, Enna Faye and husband Bob Howe of Douglasville, GA and Shelia Best of GA; brothers-in-law, Bill and Jo-Marie Cole of Luttrell, Bob and Linda Cole of Sharps Chapel; sisters-in-law, Rose and Bud Browning and Georgia Cole of Kokomo, IN; several nieces and nephews also survive; special friends, Jim and Mary French. Funeral service 7 pm Friday June 26, 2009 Mynatt's - Halls Chapel. Rev. Jerry McBee officiating. Entombment 11 am Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery.
